Quite a few ideas here, Ardyth. Knowing me, I would make an incredible mess with the Layering technique. The less messing around with the stencil the better for me at the moment. I have tons of stencils and I am using them more and more but I think I still need practice. My latest is some 70-like flowers in lunar paste on a 70 chipboard for my husband's birthday. I've finished the 7 and now need to see if I can handle the 0 without mucking it up. We'll see. So far I love the look. It's really 70's! 😊

@@ardyth I have tried binders and have not been happy with that approach. I have a clear container and just put separation panels in them. Just imagining I have 5 binders of stencils and all the inks you have- the possibility that I could learn so much from you is there if I could only hire someone to do the yard. Of course I still have to put my whole stamp room back together, and I’ll need to get some new backboards to the new cube unit and other cabinets that were damaged in the flood. But you continue to amaze me and give me hope. Have to ever done pastes with stencils? I loved that the couple times I did it!

@@ardyth just a tip that worked so well for me. I used it when I made 14 slimline stencil cards for thanksgiving using 3 pastes. I take a towel set it on the work area next to you I set it on my right with just enough room for the 9x9 “ metal baking pan to sit on filled with dish soap and water. Leave the rest of the towel hang off the edge of the table. When you’re done just slip it into the pan. If you want to reuse the stencil again take it out lay on the towel and flip up the hanging down part over it to dry it off. It worked so well for me. For tools too. Might be an 8x8” pan but you get the idea. Lmk if you try it. I did 5 stencils once and they stay perfect and no mess. Just a little prep time.

I am amazed....now here is the question of the year...LOL. A lot of the blending overlapped, did you change blenders or did you clean them? I only have one set of brushers so your answer is important to me. Those colors were awesome....
@ardyth
Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I have a brush in each colour family. I generally try to do the lightest colour first. I blend them off frequently, to keep the colour on each brush as true as possible. If I'm trying to blend blue to yellow to create a green, well, generally, I would acutally use a green in between, but if not, I would try to remember to use the darker brush (the blue one in this case) to blend into the yellow gently, and then clean the stencil before bringing the yellow back over. You can clean the stencil while it's in place, if you wipe it with a dry cloth so any ink that's sitting onto the stencil goes into the areas where that colour has been blended. Wow. There's a lot more to this than I thought! lol! Hope that helps!

I need to ask you a question about stencils I was trying to put some paste gel on some stars on paper, and I was holding it everywhere and taping it everywhere and it’s still got underneath the stencil. What am I doing wrong?
@ardyth
Жыл бұрын
I don't use paste very often (but stick around for next week...hint,hint..) so I don't really have an answer right now. Hopefully I will next week. I would suggest trying something like pixie spray to hold the stencil to the cardstock, and also try to minimize the number of times you are swiping the paste over top to get it flat. Maybe use a credit card to spread it? Brushes and sponges can lift the edges of stencils and make it easier for the paste to get underneath. Hope that helps, and I hope I have better info for you next week! Thanks for watching!
