@@minagica Now that I am studying it I understand why they fail, everyone is different and finding the thing that will work for you is a journey - I found a derm who was ready to lead me on one while others will discard the derm after the first thing they suggest doesn't work. I was blown away with how much positive affirmations can change your mindset on things. My therapist recommended I try them and I was very skeptical. I’m pretty sure I even rolled my eyes at it haha. I started doing them several times per day while going through a very tough time and it helped so much. I found this affirmation app on my phone and every time I tapped the screen, a new one would appear. Sometimes I’d sit there for 30 minutes just tap, tap, tapping away. I still do them even though I’m not going through a rough time

I wanna give you a big thank you. You just gave me the motivation to really take care of myself again. Although I don't have acne (or at least I don't know if I do), skin got worse over the last few weeks, because I didn't have a skincare routine or I wasn't consistent with it. I was also picking my skin, which probably is stress related. I thought, that I was never going to be pretty, because I also gained weight in quarantine. This always made me feel bad about myself and killed all my motivation to actually change something. However, I have basically binge watched your videos the entire day and now I feel better. I did my skincare routine and tomorrow, I'm gonna start taking care of myself again. You really are the big sister I never had and didn't know I needed until today. Hearing about your experience almost made me cry and my heart goes out to everyone who struggles with acne or other conditions. Please take care of yourselves 💖💖

You’re definitely not alone Cassandra, no one is. I got into skincare, because I started to get into makeup. I’ve always been extremely insecure about being overweight, and I was obsessed with contouring when it came to makeup. I desperately would try to make my skin look as thin as possible, I didn’t even feel safe going outside unless I was wearing makeup. Along with that I would wear shapewear, binders ect. As a guy it was also kind of a shameful process for me. By the eyes of those around me, wearing makeup and things like that made me less man. It was a vicious cycle between feeling insecure about my weight, or being insecure about my makeup. Self love is an everyday constant battle. After time though, and honestly as my relationship with God grew (hello yes I love Jesus), I realized that I didn’t have to be ashamed of myself. If God loved me for who I was no matter what, I could do the same. If I could love people no matter how they looked, then I could believe that most people would try and do the same. I used to be obsessed with skincare. I’m a nerd, but also my insecurity unhealthily fueled my desire for such knowledge. As I’ve grown, I’ve fully stopped needing and using makeup. Skincare is purely for self CARE now. And out of all the creators that I used to watch religiously, you’re the one that I definitely can’t stop watching. You genuinely bring empathy, and joy to every situation. You know you’re stuff, but are humble through and through. No one is perfect, but I just wanted to thank you for getting it. For creating this wonderful community. For spreading happiness, and knowledge. For really caring about your audience, and understanding the pains of insecurity. If you’re ever wondering if you’re really helping people, know that you are.

I have never had many pimples in my life and it's heartbreaking there's all of these people who have felt the same horrible way as me for an equally silly reason! I couldn't even walk around my own block with my mother when I was in my teenage years WITHOUT putting on a full face of makeup. I HAD to be covered in case anyone, and I mean anyone, would see me. I thought I was beautiful but only when I wore makeup. I started wearing extravagant dresses every day to school just so people would pay more attention to a dress than my face. I had a horrible dermatologist that my mother could barely afford. I was given stripping products that left me with a peeling face. The peeling caused more attention than even my acne so I had to forego them. The doctor never gave me sunscreen or even a moisturizer. The product she did give was almost pure alcohol and sulfur masks. My cysts were injected with medication through needles in the face. Somehow in college my face magically became perfect. Now that I'm a few years out of school my skin goes through phases of some cysts, to clear, to small pimples. I now have the knowledge of skincare to have my own routine and can afford products. I use a salicylic cleanser and swap every other day for a basic one without fragrance. I use glycolic acid or retinol as my serums. No toners. The ordinary peel once a week. A sulfur mask with peppermint once a week. I've found many different moisturizers that I can use so I can pick which one fits my mood. I also have three different favorite sunscreens. The only makeup I wear is some undereye cream and mascara. I rarely go for a full face of makeup anymore and I feel like my true self without any shame.

@@ephidd290 I use either the L'Oreal sunscreen at SPF 15 which is also moisturizer. I also use the CeraVe sunscreen at SPF 30 it is a sheer tint sunscreen so I can use it as makeup. The final sunscreen I use is Nivea men at SPF 15 which is also a lotion. The L'Oreal sunscreen does have fragrance in it but it also has benzyl alcohol which can help with acne. I personally am sensitive to zinc oxide in my sunscreen so I don't use the CeraVe one very often because it can make me break out. the Nivea man I find is the best one for me even though it has fragrance and the third ingredient is alcohol. It just has a better consistency it's no white cast and it smells really nice and my skin doesn't have any problems with it.
