This was Sunday, day 2 of Miller, September 9, 2007. That's me leading out of T1. I'd crashed the day before and didn't get any points, but only needed a 5th place or better in this race to clinch the entire championship.
My brother is not an expert cameraman so the video is a little jumpy and focuses on the wrong cluster, but you get the idea. I got a decent start and went up high into T1 to go around Gary Slabaugh on his Norton with Glenn Campbell at my heels on his BMW. I got a good lead, but Glenn ultimately caught me in the third lap and took the win. I managed 2nd, which was more than I needed to seal the championship. Needless to say, I was happy.
I'll try to identify the bikes/riders here:
Across the front row is me on #109, Jordan Levitt on a Seeley Norton #719, Jamie Waters on a Norton Production Racer #107 and Gary Slabaugh on a Norton Atlas #355. The second row is Larry Campbell on his BMW (can't read #), Tom Kullen - Bonneville Vintage GP organizer - on his Norton Commando #44x and David Kaechele on a BMW (can't read #). Finally in the last row is Glenn Campbell on his fast BMW.
That's a fine, fine grid. Good racing it was.
