Second weekend back at Summit Point this year with a new PB in a Corvette. Previous best was set right before I wrecked my pewter C5 last year as I was still figuring out how much different Corvettes are from Miatas...
This weekend I was on a set of 275/35/18 Maxxis RC-1 tires that I got at Hyperfest last year to give out rides on Patriot Course. I'm not going to lie, they were surprisingly decent! Obviously I'm not setting any records in my non-aero, underpowered, relatively stock Corvette, but these tires sure took some abuse and handled the heat of full sessions really well. I definitely didn't have to manage them like the Nankang CR-S that I used back in June.
Overall the car continued to run great all weekend long and I ran consistently in the high 20s for the remaining sessions throughout the weekend.
Next up: one more event at VIR in December just to keep turning some laps and kill off some tires. Aero going back on the car this winter for 2025.
