Check out the ClassicInlines forums, as well as I believe VintageInlines. Focus on Classic Inlines, those guys are the BOMB when t comes to dealing with Ford 200s. On your 200, check and make sure it's a 7 main bearing engine, identified by 5 freeze plugs vs 3 freeze plugs on a 5 main motor. 7 mains will take a beating and a half. A good crank is a must. Ford 2.3 HSC Pistons are forged and a direct swap in. Then a comp cam. Top it off with a newer Ford 200 or 250 head (240/300 will NOT work, they're big block 6s) the newer heads have larger valves with hardened valve seats, better flow, and slightly bigger combustion chambers. Equating to better characteristics and life when adding boost.

Nice, always wanted to do that on one of those 6s. why not just make it fuel injected, you could probably make it with two 1500cc injectors.
@TheTrojanRaider
6 жыл бұрын
Cool Car Video the head and intake are all one piece on these motors, with a dinky 1 3/4" carb mount. In short, unless you drop a Holley efi setup, try to find a nonexistent Classic Inlines aluminum head, the only other way to do an EFI setup is machine off the log (small round blue thing visible at 1:43 left of the valve cover) then make a new intake manifold, retrofit all of the needed sensors like MAF and ACT, electric fuel and return lines etc, most likely crank and cam position sensors (impossible to mount unless you are a GOD with cast iron blocks and fabbing up a way for the crank/cam to read a sensor) 02 sensors, not to mention finding/making an ECU work with all of that. I've considered EFI, and you can't do it without crank position sensor unless you somehow can run that timing stuff off the distributor. I was trying to make mine EFI, but that's too involved. Instead I'm chopping the log, and making a custom larger intake manifold to accommodate boost better than a 1 1/4"ID log with 6 90* bends
@CoolCarVideo
6 жыл бұрын
Ya, I see what you are saying, but what about making a wet intake and have 2 injectors around where the carb would be and just add throttle body over it ? PS the MegaSquirt ECU could work and you can run it only form the crank sensor only with waste spark coils. But I totally get it, it gets very involving ;)
@TheTrojanRaider
6 жыл бұрын
Cool Car Video I see what you're saying, similar to the way GM did some of the late 80 early 90s 4.3s? With the injectors below the manifold and just a throttle body on top of the manifold right? The hardest part would be figuring out how to run a way to sense the crank position, unless running off the dizzy somehow for the timing. If that makes sense? Because you are making me think a different way than I was and I want to try it now. EDIT: they make MSD ignition units for these motors, so if the megasquirt could communicate with the MSD, then it would be a very simple setup. If that's the case, why not go one injector per runner so you don't have the air and fuel traveling to separate ends of the motor and making 90* turns?

Is the same possible for a 170
@javier9082
3 жыл бұрын
Hi actually no the 170 is a very weak motor the main bearing will go. The 200 is alot stronger engine if I remember is 7 main bearing instead of 5 I could be wrong. Do some research on that. Thank you for watching

Go over to the Fordsix.com site and start digging. You just might find someone with the old Aussie Ford six head and 2 barrel intake that will fit on this engine. The later Cleveland style six head will fit this block also, it was a cross flow.

What turbo and carb do you have
@javier9082
7 жыл бұрын
Timothy HL I'm running a tdo4 with exhaust housing machine so I wouldn't boost to fast and 350cfm holley carb with air bleeds oh also a brpv this working on the spring tension on the overall thanks

javier arocho do you think I could get away with running a turbo on the stock single Barrel carb
@javier9082
7 жыл бұрын
Timothy HL you can but the fuel distribution wouldn't be enough to all 6 cylinder. I have seen one person do it but then switched to a 2bbl

javier arocho so you wouldn't recommend turbocharging a single barrel

Turbo on inline 6 I guess in 2 to 3 years you have to do engine rebuild hope you didn't put nitrous on a inline unless you want even more issues

Wak Job I don't know I just think that for motor like that it's better just to keep it original but that's my opinion but yes I have a 1966 Ford Mustang with an inline 6 by the way where do you get all your stuff for the motor like if you're going to do stuff that would like to work that you've done on yours where do you where do you go to get it like the turbo and stuff I might do it I don't know

John Sears I her you bro it's the old log head. There is a company call vintage inlines that make a aluminium head with a removable intake manifold for the old Ford inline 6s they are kinda expensive but I'm going to by one very soon about 2500 hundred
