How are you not going to leave the campsite immediately after meeting the 'metal hanger guy' in number 2? How?! I would have been out of there immediately. Of course, I'm never going camping again, anyway, after all of the things like this I've heard on KZitem and Reddit. Thanks, Let's Read!

I laugh when ppl get freaked out about sweat lodges. It just our version of church. Not dangerous at all to the ppl who are (RAISED) into it. Native children participate in it often. The only time you hear reports of ppl dying or getting hurt is when non-tribal member/non-natives try to mimic us for money or to declare false powers of some sort. Side note: I love the stories, keeps me motivated while I workout.

I was almost asleep until I heard the story about the dog with it's head cut clean off. I witnessed an identical scene on a secluded highway in Arizona when I was driving home at 3AM many years ago. Except that its head was on one side of the highway and its body perfectly intact otherwise on the other. It definitely didn't look like something that occurred naturally and freaked me tfo as there's no cellphone service on that road. I still think about it to this day and wonder what happened.

For the record: sweat lodges are not dangerous. The deaths were caused by non-natives using plastic tarps and burning wood inside the lodge causing suffocation. This happened only once to my knowledge as a major news story. Even among natives, It is incredibly unwise to conduct a ceremony like this without an experienced elder. Besides that, men, women and children all participate on a weekly basis. Water and food are always provided and if anyone ever feels sick, they are taken care of as a priority. In most cases, all races and belief systems are welcome as well :) Also, drugs are absolutely not used in sweat lodges. Tobacco is sometimes smoked in a peace pipe, but it is considered an extremely powerful medicine and only used under very strict traditional standards. Not to be puffed casually in any way. No drugs. This ceremony is both a cleansing ceremony and a healing one. Sure, it can be intense, but it makes you humble and it makes water taste amazing... seriously, it's precious a.f. And those colorful bags tied to trees are called prayer bags, you tie up a little cloth with tobacco and put a prayer into each bag on a long string. They are tied in trees for a few weeks and then taken down later and burned in the fire amongst the rocks used in the sweat. Sometimes they are left for the life of the tree or lodge. There is no bad juju here. Most likely someone is just praying for a raise or their daughters new baby. Anyone can do this... it is quite harmonious. Be sure to hang it up somewhere natural that has a lot of signifigance to yourself, if you do try it out. I don't blame the poster for his lack of knowledge or curious nature... just... don't jump to conclusions or believe everything that you hear. Try to be respectful, even when there is little respect given to you. There is a little voice inside you... listen to it. It's there to keep you 100. As the natives say... stay on the red road. Great video btw. Peace.

On April 1, 2024, I went on a hiking trip for Easter Break to Stone Creek Trail UK, alongside my two friends, Erik and Henry. I never thought I'd have to say this, but due to a series of unfortunate events, Erik has gone missing. Henry and I are in a state of shock and confused at this sudden tragedy. Erik was slowing down, but we didn’t think anything of it. A few minutes later, we noticed and all we found was his camera after we went back. We did not hear anyone or anything that could have possibly harmed him. So his vanishment and the footage is perplexing in the least. I'm uploading this for awareness on his behalf. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you.

Sweat lodges don't include drugs, some kids are sometimes included. When kids are included, they don't make it that hot. It's basically a sauna, plus they pray in sweat lodges. Each tribe is different.

To story 4: The children being at the sweat lodge were not to be allowed into the ceremony. That was Celtic Shamanism, not Native American, and it's a form of cleansing. The sweat lodge must be built all in one go because to delay is allowed evil spirits to set into the area and thus makes those who will go into the lodge vulnerable to attack by them. Children are not permitted in, but they are allowed to sit outside because it's a learning experience for them so they will learn the process and what it does. If you need better information about rituals, ask. There's people who will answer.

The scariest thing was when she said her friend was very pretty then described her as a "Young Megan Fox" and I thought about it and I can't remember how old she is but she can't be much older than I am, she might even be younger. Completely distracted me from that story, something about a creepy park ranger, I feel like it's part of the job requirement to be creepy when you're a park ranger.
