I pulled out a cable at the jump yard and that stupid spring gave me fits. I wasn't able to get it off even after removing the bolt. Luckily I was able to get the cable off but am pissed at how GM doesn't design their trucks for serviceability! Thanks for the video as I haven't replaced mine yet. Mine was having problems coming out of park but went away after a few days, so why mess with it? I'll keep the cable in the truck just in case I ever need it.

I love you, you just taught me how to do this stupid fucking asinine bullshit the right way, had to buy another cable cuz I broke the weak paper back bullshit other one and the video I watched before, the guy didint fucking adjust it right….so that’s how I broke it, trying to adjust it while hooked to the transmission part. With your video I managed to fix it before I broke the cable again.

Damn it's nice to see a man do a job. 99% of these videos are made by people with more hair product than scars. I'm tired of trying to see what people are doing with them stupid damn gloves on. And don't feel bad about the rain I'm doing mine in 18° weather laying in the snow. And I'm not wearing gloves either my calluses keep me warm.

Question: I am preparing to start on mine....I'm not sure if my cable is bad or if it's the trans is blown up. Which side of the truck does the cable connect to the transmission lever? The clues I'm getting in the cable connects to the trans on the passenger side . I want to disconnect the cable from the trans and move the lever to the park position to start the truck to warm it up. Then eventually shut it off and move the trans lever to drive so I could pull my truck into my garage to work on it. It is a little scary starting my truck while it's in Drive, but as long as I keep my foot on the brake, I'm guessing it should be fine???
@hillbillyimports31

It’ll be on the drivers side of the trans, I have done this before it is sketchy but doable in a pinch.

Started one of these today, on a 2006 3500 how aggravating, I’m having trouble with the adjustment part and the fact the the floor is rotted so the rubber grommet isn’t in anything. Brackets and self tappers to hold the cable down and zip ties. Had to remove the shift lever, grind and drill out the nipple and install a bolt and nut for the shift cable so it wouldn’t keep falling off. Now the truck is off a gear, I could put it in park, and still shift up another to an empty spot lol something is fucked up.

We're you ever able to get it into 1st ? I've got the same issue. I swear (no matter what sir doubts alot says) that she feels like she's not engaging fully? Not bogging down exactly or wrong gear nesisarily...held back maybe? Cuz sometimes when I put her in gear, it catches right and I can feel it. She's perfect. Idk. But that not going to 1st and the reader in the dash is always a c*** hair off (except on those drives that she somehow catches right) I think this is why she drives funky.

You should've taken care of that zip tie job as much as your did this cable install. Atleast clip the excess off lol. Probably a not give a fuck job on a truck that was dying from salt, but hey mine was dying too from salt, gotta get yourself a small air compressor, a cheap bedliner sprayer, a purposed melting pot and burner from dg which is cheap, candle wax from dg, your next oil change oil, and a tube of cheap ass grease, spray it on when hot, gtg. Literally preserves the truck in it's constant state, that is if you get behind the rust too. Otherwise scrap yard will always be in it's and you future.
