Thanks Matt, This is the perfect video at the perfect time. I'm almost ready to start weathering my Tamiya F-4J and this will be a huge help.

Great video. After struggling with inconsistent results, I've pretty much given up on all the commercial panel liner products and have gone back to artists oils. When the oils are thinned with Naptha (Coleman camp stove fuel!) it has never reacted badly with the surface paint. The naptha is super volatile and so it goes on thin and evaps in seconds.

Huge technique help here, especially for this color scheme. Have tried to do some of these effects with pastels in the past but this is light years ahead.

Great video as usual. You are so brave using Epoxy. Always worried to stick some of it all over the place. Hate this shit.

A secret to removing dust off your plane, model or any surface before you paint or even using inking or panel lining is using the airbrush itself. You got one... use it. Press down on the airbrush but don't pull back and spray air over it. Gets dust off and you can leave it there for additional use.

Problem with that is that the airflow can create a static buildup and actually attract more crud (and it doesn't remove as totally as you'd think)

Great technique with the oils and naptha! Where does one get naptha, hardware store, or is it a certain product like lighter fluid or camp stove fuel? Thanks for the great videos!

I got mine at Home Depot or Lowes. I also believe Gunze Mr Weathering Thinner is comprised of at least a good amount of it.

I've had a bunch of Ammo stuff go "off" in the pot. Specifically the Panel Line Washes, Filters and various Streaking Effects. There doesn't seem to be a pattern either just dumb luck. Which is a shame as I love Ammo products, they're always my go to weathering stuff.

Maybe you mentioned it but I didn’t catch what cost you used prior to applying all the weathering, grime, and panel wash? Gloss first? Apply weathering and spray flat?
@rpat7

Doug. Do you put on the grime effects that you showed in this video before or after the final flat coat?
@DoogsModels

Yes! The underside had some Ammo One Shot Transparent (basically a semi-matte clear) before weathering started, and the rest was just over the paint. I was hoping the oils would be enough on their own to flat everything out, but not quite, hence revisiting with the MRP clear toward the end.

@@DoogsModels Matt I could actually borrow your Weathering Techniques on the 1/32 scale Trumpeter A-6E Intruder model & use it for my 1/48 scale GWH F-15C model kit 'The late Gulf Spirit Eagles from the 33rd TFW based in Eglin AFB' future project & I actually looking at the Modern Eagle Guide 2nd Edition reference book which the F-15C Eagles are actually just as grimy as the A-6E Intruders. The MRP Flat Clear lacquer paint isn't available here in Singapore so got to order it online on Ebay. I actually messaged you on Instagram to chat with you about scale modeling & other things besides scale modeling. I'm still learning different Weathering Techniques & different colour tone of paints applied on the scale model kits from every modellers.

Holy Ads Batman!! Great video, thank you. However, you are falling victim to a recent youtube change that auto inserts ads all over the place. They are really intrusive and interrupt your flow. Others I follow have had the same issue. Only known fix is to remove/move them yourself. Please keep up the great content.

Yeah, KZitem's also making it harder and harder to go in and fix that shit. Basically you have to do it AFTER it's all published. And remembering to do it isn't my strong suit!

The adds can be removed, but more adds mean more money to creators. So for me, as far as they dont show up 4 times in 10min video, its okay.

Hey Matt. What size are those small mixing cups you use and where do you get them? They look great to lead to less waste (I always mix WAY to much stuff up ‘cause of the size mixing cups I use). Thanks and the Intruder is looking so awesome! Great job and talents. Best regards.

Hi Matt, assumptions and personal issues aside, you're a good modeler. Your videos would attract a wider audience here in the EU if the swearing was restrained more. I enjoy your videos but the swearing just, detracts, almost side swipes, what you're trying to impart to us others. Again, no malice intended but if you want to get more audience, I would refrain from the profanities as we in the European States don't really care much for it. The kit and execution of it is good. Shame to ruin it for world wide audiences, we are not in the USA where swearing is the norm. Hope this helps and good luck with the rest of the build. 'We' may be more sensitive but I think more socially aware than to just accept swearing as part of the norm. At least I hope and trust so.

Hi Martin, assumptions and personal issues aside, you're a good guy. Your comments would attract a wider audience here in the US if the condescension was restrained more. I enjoy your remarks but the presumption just, detracts, almost side swipes, what you're trying to impart to us others. Again, no malice intended of course but if you want to get more audience, I would refrain from the pretentiousness as we in the United States don't really care much for it. The thought and execution of it is not good. Shame to ruin it for all audiences, we are not in the UK where supercilliousness is the norm. Hope this helps and good luck with the rest of life. 'We' may be more insensitive but definitely more socially aware than to just accept presuming to tell others how to live as part of the norm. At least I hope and trust so.

LOL. Bless your heart. It’s cute that you think swearing is the norm in the US. Believe it or not, Scorsese and Tarantino films do not reflect reality, and there is a massive puritanical strain in America. One that’s happy to overlook any number of real, pressing problems, but that will clutch its collective pearls in moralistic indignation if someone says “ass” on TV. It’s cute that you think America swears more than Europe, when it doesn’t even crack the top ten in global studies (even those poutine pounders in Canada beat us out). It’s cute that you think I give a single flying or even gliding fuck about attracting a wider audience in the EU or anywhere else. If I were it’d probably make way more sense to start recording in German, French, Spanish, or Russian. Or pursue a different line of content than modeling videos. I do this because I enjoy doing it and because it seems genuinely useful and helpful to plenty of people who I guess must not be as “socially aware” as yourself.

What fucking part of Europe do you come from? Noone in their right mind here calls it the European States, we're a shit ton of different countries without a single state among them. And on the topic of swearing, nowhere in Europe do you hear the horrible beeping out swear words or seeing pixelated nipples, we're not fucking pansies who get offended by that shit over here.
@ScaleHangar182

Comparing Europe to US with amount of swearing in content is a bit off, especially when you said that its normalised in US. They swear a lot in european movies, and European content creators swear a lot too and for many watching, its not a big deal, its actually amusing. If someone is too sensitive to handle this, their loss.
