Even found in a storm drain/ditch with stinky,stagnant water you would think authorities knowing the area would think: “Let’s check that storm drain/ditch since it always has a natural stinky stench it would be a good place to hide a body” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to find a body so close either. So I’m wondering if her body was moved so close after the search. Thinking no one checks areas twice. Unless that area wasn’t checked a first time.

He probably did it, but we have no way of knowing. Obviously we're not going to be privy to all the evidence/facts of the case, as the trial still needs to take place. If he was charged only because a single strand of his hair was found, that's an extremely flimsy case. People with long hair get it everywhere, it would be perfectly reasonable to think one of the strands got onto his girlfriends clothing during the course of their night before she went for a walk. It is outrageous the authorities did not bother to search for three days. If they had searched sooner, there would surely have been more opportunity to gather evidence. And even if someone is just lost, finding them sooner will help their chances of survival. Australia is looking a lot less inviting as a travel destination. Tobias clearly did lie to investigators and should have been held to account for that much earlier. But as for who did away with Simone, the evidence is very thin (due to the authorities neglecting her disappearance for days). My feeling is that, sadly, this case will never be resolved unless someone decides to talk. If they go to trial with nothing for evidence except sketchy behavior and a hair (which any attorney could easily explain), I can't imagine a jury convicting.

The aussie authorities are almost completely useless when it comes to missing persons. When my parents listed my older brother as missing, the police told them they had to wait at least 48hrs before they would start to search for him. A few days later, his body was found in his car, parked next to a rest stop. In the 48hrs the cops had told my parents to wait, he'd committed suicide. To this day, I believe there's a strong chance that he would still be alive if the cops had started searching for him straight away.

I feel the need to share my own experience because it may help you understand how difficult it is to judge such things. I experienced something traumatic and, when asked to come in to "talk about it," was shocked to find that they did not believe I was a victim, but was actually the suspect, and I was taken to a small room and interrogated. I was shocked, angry, desperate, and any other emotion you can imagine. Believe me, my response was aggressive. They told me that I would be sent away for a very long time, I would never work in my field again (I taught at a university and would never be able to work in that field, and many others, as a felon- imagine trying to find any job after prison), my minor child would be taken away from me and I would not see them for a very long time, my name would be all over the front page for a long time (I lived in a small city where such things are front-page news), especially during the trial, and on and on. Everything I'd ever worked for - my family, my house, my reputation, my career, my sanity - would be gone. My life would be ruined. For almost a year, I fought back and got a lawyer, but felt like I was shouting into the void. The police would not believe me. They used faulty science that they felt pointed to me, and would not listen to reason, nor would they consider that I'd never been in trouble in any way, so there was no pattern, so to speak. I went into a tailspin, feeling broken, unheard and alone, crying myself to sleep every night, and was suicidal. I was going to kill myself. In the end, their contact with me became less frequent until I stopped hearing from them. But, I was told that the statute of limitations was 17 years, so, even though I try not to think about it, I still haven't been able to breathe a sigh of relief. There are still 8 years left. Before all of this happened to me, I had many beliefs that I no longer carry: the police can spot lying (they can't), they use good up-to-date science and, when a suspect commits suicide, it's because they were guilty and couldn't face the punishment. I wish I'd never gone through what I went through, as it has completely changed me and has also tainted my view of police. Sorry for this long comment. I do hope it contains some value for you and/or others. As for whether or not Tobias is guilty, I honestly don't know, but answering aggressively could indicate guilt or innocence. I reacted the same way when I was asked if it did it (I wasn't accused of murder, but it was a very serious accusation that could potentially carry a term of 10-20 years or more). Thank you for reading this far, if you did!

Believe me, even if I am witness to a car accident, I don't volunteer any assistance to the police because I know how it can come back and haunt one. They appear to have targets to meet and any candidate can be panel-beaten to fill their quotas. BUT, I must also add... Once when I needed the police, they went out their way to assist me and for that I am grateful. If only they were all like that. It's not weird for people in Australia to walk around without shoes on. So many of my mates do it. My girlfriend walks into the city barefoot, so on a campsite it's nothing. Just one of those things Down under!

Hi Adrian, thank you so much for covering this case! I sent through this suggestion so long ago, I honestly thought you didn’t think it was interesting enough to cover. It’s such a sad case & hopefully it’s put to rest soon as it’s been a long time & her family need closure. I’m glad you used the news footage that you did, as it clearly shows the many inconsistencies in the media reporting, both back when it happened, & still to this day. Also, in regards to Lismore’s floods - the town was hit by a record breaking 14m flood in Feb 2022, then another almost as big exactly 1 month later. The town still looks like a war zone, with many traumatised people still living in tents & caravans in their yards - so many houses are completely unliveable. The Gollan pub mentioned in your video was decimated & is unlikely to reopen, along with so many other businesses & buildings in the CBD

This is a difficult case because he was probably aware that if he said yes, they did have an argument that people would have accused him of murdering his girlfriend (so it could be a reason why he lied). Also, they were living in close proximity so it is possible that she had a hair on her from him anyway. The thing I find most suspicious is that he left so soon after she went missing. If someone I loved went missing I would be distraught and first do everything I could to find them, I would only go home when I really had to.

I don't usually buy into accusations that a partner / friend / etc "Isn't acting like they should" when someone has been killed, as everyone deals with shock and grief differently. But in Tobias' case, it's not how he *didn't* act after Simone's death, it's how he did act, and has continued to. There's very little chance he didn't do it, I think, and the other two people were probably intimidated into helping him cover it up.
@itarry4

Why he helped at first then the police decided he was guilty and got locked on him. I don't blame him for leaving after being accused, once the police decide guilt it's very hard to change their mind whatever you do. He never changed his story in any way and from this video they have very little to go on. He could be guilty but I don't see anything in his behaviour which proves his guilt in any way.

@itarry4
Жыл бұрын
@@yulebones yhea possibly you obviously know better than me however again proves nothing and it doesn't really come in to the fact he left. I understand it's a thing that points to him being guilty but guilty or not I can see why he might want to leave and cut contact with the police. I might even do the same thing in his place if I knew I was innocent but the police were convinced it was me and pushing, hassling me to get the result they think is right. Even the innocent can make mistakes or get so stressed they say the wrong thing which would then be used against them. However even if I left and cut contact I'd still be willing to answer questions and give what help I could through my solicitor. I wonder what he was like with his new wife and kids? The way he treated her would tell us a lot about how he treated the victim. I can only go from this video, we both can and if this is everything the police have then it's very possible the police have been struggling to find the killer so have landed on the obvious choice. Once that happens the pressure on them to solve it can easily lead to a miscarriage of justice and frequently has. If he did it I hope he rots in Prison, however there's already enough people in prison serving sentences they don't deserve due to the publicity around the case and the pressure this puts on the cops and courts to get someone for the crime. It annoys me when I read about cases where the wrong person has been convicted just because the police failed to look anywhere else and decided early on they had the right guy. There's even been cases where a very obvious suspect has been totally ignored or rejected just because the police had already spent so much time being convinced they had the right guy and couldn't change their minds no matter what evidence turned up.

I mean, if he really didn’t do it then that would be such a horrific experience. And it sounds like even the courts don’t think there’s enough evidence to prove he did it, plus there’s no history of violence, so we’re supposed to believe he just snapped overnight and became a murderer and somehow hid it from close friends. It's a tourist caravan park right next to the main commercial district of a country town, two blocks from the regional police HQ. The Gollan Hotel where these people were drinking is a decent hotel where as it happens a lot of the town's lawyers meet and drink.
