Loved this series. Great build and I chuckled at the potential items that could be stored inside the sliding compartment in the ballast box. I opt for the fireplace (smile). In off use, maybe put some PVC caps over those 4 inch PVC tubes and you'll keep it free from undesirable black widows or other pesky critters. Great video. Full-watch and excellent build.

Thanks Mike! I’m glad I made you laugh! Already got to try it out a couple of days ago. Had the forks on tractor and the chainsaw in the ballast box to cut down a tree and cut it up. The back wheels stayed firmly on the ground while I was hauling off sections of the trunk.

Good morning DIY! I vote for the coffee maker! Probably too late to change that now. LOL. Sorry, been catching up on the honey-do list this past week so a little behind on following your adventures. The ballast box turned out great! And provides a good counterweight at 638lbs, I think. Hope all is well in Georgia where you are located. Cheers and all the best!

@4:14 you cover the hatch with a piece of roofing metal, couldn't you have just used cardboard, or even just blue tape over the door?

Wet concrete is VERY heavy so cardboard or tape wouldn’t do it. Also I still wanted the option of having the door panel slide up and down in case I thought of a use for it. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the time and effort to produce, and this video series gave me some great ideas for making my own ballast box configuration. The threaded rod through the middle for adding things to the side of the box is genius! Well... maybe not genius... but a pretty darn good idea lol. 🤠 That ballast box is a pretty good buy... but I think I have enough crap laying around the shop to try and fab something from scratch. Plus, I think it would be a little overkill for my particular tractor as it is a size or two smaller than yours. I could just fill it with less concrete but then would have issues with water collecting in the top... which would require more holes... and so forth. In addition to helping keep my rear tires on the ground it is important for me to try and keep the load distributed across the length of my frame. My tractor is a 25hp EMax from Mahindra... and with a bucket rating of 900lbs, it can put a lot of pressure on the front axle. Not sure if it is as much of a problem on larger compact tractors, but I did dmg to mine stacking wet snow without any ballast on the rear. My inexperience cost me some $$$... lol. As what tends to happen with my projects, the scope is ever expanding... I probably need to stop watching so many dang videos! Thanks again!

I like your videos very much, but I was wondering what you would think about putting a weight bar through the box so that you could add weights later on if you want more weight. And even maybe a weight bar coming out the top so you could set weights down to give you more weight.
@DIYMyWay
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Dennis! I think those are good ideas! So far I haven’t had a situation where I needed more than the weight of the ballast, but the threaded rods give me the option of adding more weight or additional tool carriers. Thanks for watching!

4:20 that panel made no sense. Once you fill the box with concrete that door will never be use again, ever. You would've been better off just taping around the inside of the door to keep concrete from flowing out. plus, you'll have less concrete in the box due to the channels on the panel. I'm I correct or did I miss something.

Crazy idea actually. Would have been better to be able to add and subtract weight, that's shot. That could have also been done with having to tool totes installed. I guess the fans of your upgrades are happy.
