It's nice to knock off a bunch of smaller jobs and make the list smaller. I have to agree about having the bench behind you when operating a machine. I always try to set my machines up like that. I also like to have a tool board at each machine to hang all the tools that specific machine needs (wrenches, parallels, chuck keys etc.). I wouldn't have been in any shape to run a circular saw this past Saturday either as my neighbour came over and helped me burn my wood/empty my beer fridge until 1 in the morning. Ran my lathe with no problems though. Ken

Also have mahogany double layered bench for lathe, changing that for steel & mahogany benches. Although mahogany is best on boats. Gloves protect hands from welding rays more annoying but finding the right gloves might protect. I like the large garden gloved Only have stick so make shore I weld opposite corners for framing, even just put 20mm finish taks on , I weld for purpose and anyway a set of 20 mm welds will save time. Like the coat , prefer no instructors cane as use to cop it at tech drawing Do like cane furniture. You could set a job up especially on a faceplate for a progressive video. Many machines so the ones that aren't be used alot could be perfect for a longer set up. Hex stock is great for making stud removers.

I love tig welding but it’s definitely a lot harder especially for me because I have very shaky hands and I’m very good at dipping the tungsten. It’s so frustrating when I’m trying to do aluminum but I just deal with it. Nice welder by the way! I was gonna get the Everlast with the knobs but I ended up getting the Lincoln square wave 200 because my Lincoln mig lasted so many years. What a mistake that was! First one the keypad didn’t work, second one just stopped arcing so they had to give me the upgraded board. They knew they had a problem

Max, you REALLY need to wear gloves on both hands. With TIG particularly because there’s no smoke which partly shields from the UV in MiG and stick. You get more UV therefore from TIG. I know that a lot of people seem to think that the worst you can get is a sunburn, but that’s not true. It’s melanoma that’s the problem and it’s a serious problem. There are at least two people on KZitem who had problems with it from welding and both had skin removed from their arm’s and one is on cancer drugs from it. Even if you don’t weld regularly, it’s additive. Damage doesn’t go away and heal. I’m very careful when I weld. As we get older the damage comes more swiftly. I know this is preachy, but I hate seeing good people having bad problems. That’s a really nice piece of lumber. Do you know what it is?

Your right , i need to use the other glove . The wood is Jarrah . Grows here but takes along time to grow . It's classed as a hardwood . Back along time ago , it was a common construction timber . Replaced in construction now with treated Pine & LVL beams and light steel framing . 👍

Hello sir! I have acquired a JFMT 530 x 2000 lathe but did not receive any documentation with it. Would you happen to have a manual and/or a wiring diagram for yours that you'd be willing to share or sell a scanned copy of?
@swanvalleymachineshop

The manuals are available on line . Early in the new year i could scan the electrical page . The manuals are copied from Mazac manuals and do not cover the rapid traverse wiring . I could probably try taking photos of the diagrams as well . Email me so i have a return email address . 👍

Blimey, Aussie English can sound odd to us Poms. I was stumped by your 'Seco' tooling - then I worked out it must mean 'second-hand' (like 'arvo', etc.). Then you showed us the manufacturer's label. Doh!

Really enjoy your layout of jobs and technique of completion. BTW, the device which you refer too for cutting strait lines on plates and slabs is called a "radialgraph" here in the States. Used many of them in a Steel Mill I worked in after leaving college. They were quite expensive and failed often from excessive heat exposure; but were easily rebuilt. Thanks again for your time and thoughtful explanations. Also shop looks great.
