Interestingly I also thought my first upgrade from the Ryzen 5 2600 & rx580 8 gig combo would be the GPU, but funnily enough I got CPU bottlenecked in the games I wanted to play first, the game that stood out to me was God Of War targetting 1080p @ 60fps. Edit-Upgrading to the R5 3600 solved most of my issues, thought I'd point this out since it's the opposite experience to the TBF solid advice you have given. provided you don't go for x4 lanes 4.0 GPUs such as the RX 6500, maybe even not the 66xx, which is unfortunate - that would require a b550/x570 board with a Zen 2 chip. Something like a used 2070/Ti/Super/3060 might be better but definitely a bit stretching it for 1080p, but granted, I'd argue the 2600x is still a great 1440p CPU for most games and would still take advantage of that GPU power. Good to see Deathloop back in the mix. The game is very heavy on the VRAM, I've seen it creep it's way up to 16GB. It would probably keep going up if I had more. Having said that, I've been testing a RX 550 2GB and made a video on it, and it runs... kind of...

This is what I was contemplating about, what CPU to pair with an RX 580, specifically an Aisurix RX 580. Been searching for a vid like this. Thank you man!

I found a certified Ebay-refurbished PC for a friend for exactly $400 (USD) that contained a Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, an RTX 2060 (I believe it was a GIGABYTE dual-fan model), a 512GB SSD and a 650-watt Gold-rated EVGA power-supply. Came with a 1-year warranty and everything! So far it's been playing every game they've thrown at it -they've officially been converted from consoles lol. I bet you could find some similar value whole-systems for future videos under the official Ebay-refurbished umbrella ;)

I agree with your recommendation, running b450,2600x,rx580(8gb),2x 8gb (3200mhz), m.2 500gb boot, 250g,500gb,2tb HDDS, CPU (44c idle) @ stock, GPU (27c idle) @ undervolted, overclocked, custom fan curve, +40% PWR, using a 4:3 75hz monitor, so I lock at 72fps, fantastic performance. PUBG @ max settings runs silky smooth on win11.

Oh wow, I just brought a 2nd hand budget PC with this exact same set up Ryzen 5 3600 with RX 580, 16GB ram with SSD and a really high quality case for 250 bucks. it plays most of the recent release games on high setting with little problem.

For about a year now I have been running a B450 MSI Tomahawk Max II, which out of the box was BIOS updated, but I did it again anyway. a 5600X CPU, 32GB 3000Mhz Ballistix OC'd to 3200Mhz, and I just threw an old 1050Ti 4GB on to make the pretty happen. It works. Yep, there are far better solutions out there, but for the money, at the time? This little system rocks. Now - it has short comings - for example I only have old hard drives from other systems, so at the moment all I have is 4x seagate barracuda 7200's in various flavours, but they do the job for now. I switch to a an NVME at some point and shove in a couple of SSD's, but I don't need them yet. Sound is an external Lepy motorcycle amp into panasonic speakers most days, others i use guitar amps... even at "One" they shake the building.... Screen is a 32" 4k Samsung, which is locked to 60Hz, which honestly is fine for me - on the rare occassion I play FPS 60Hz is ok - I prefer quality over quantity. Second is a 22" Illyama touch screen, 3rd is a 22" Polaroid,, Yeah, Polaroid... Shocked me, too... But it works. The Ilyama is good for immersive gaming - set up correctly you can make games like "X Foundations" and so on put their menu's on it. So you're flying a starship, with a touch screen side panel... it fun. Yes, I am single.... hehehe. One thing to say on my Mobo - TURN OFF the inbuild OC... I think it says something about "Dragon" or something like that. But its broken - it ran my CPU to 225 degrees... Switch it off and the stock cooler even under OC load will be fine.

Rockin' this exact combo to this day, I would not feel the need to upgrade the whole setup even now, but it tingles me to move from 1080p 144hz to 1440p 144hz. Nevertheless - still a killer combo for modern day titles.

G'day Random, My Gaming PC is a R5 1400, 16GB DDR4-3200 & RX580 8GB & it is easily able to play all my games at 1080p which include all the fun adventure game Epic Freebies that I have collected like the TombRaider Collection & this weeks Dying Light Enhanced Edition. The only game that I have seen the 580 not cope with at least a Console like experience is TLoU or as many now call it The Crash of US.

Keep in mind not only this is good for gaming but also very great for Digital Multimedia as for the CPU having good numbers of C/T and the GPU with a high VRAM. Although programs requiring high single core speed may not perform as well.

Running a 2600x with a 2060!!! Have built many AM4 systems out of cheap parts, these have been the best to go to for about 2 years now. Commenting this in the hopes to depreciate the price of the 3600 series.

There's a laptop (11900H) and motherboard combo in aliexpress (converted to desktop mobo) which goes for ~180$ and 5700xt cards are selling there for 130$. Add 50$ 3600 ram, 50$ psu, 50$ case, 50$ ssd and you've got a fantastic 1080p PC for 510$!

I love these videos, instead of the usual raw benchmark videos based on unrealistic builds. Now, being able to run every new game is great, but not strictly necessary to enjoy a gaming experience. You can build a cheap second hand gaming PC in a "consolized" manner, and still be able to play thousands of games, just not the latest and more demanding ones. Why there's people willing to buy a second hand PS3 or PS4, when they can't play PS5 games on them, but they refuse to get a PC with similar limitations? Most people expect a PC to be able to "run everything", it's a bias we need to fight against.

In 2019 I had just about the same combo, B450 and 16GB RAM, BUT it was the first ever PC I was building and I knew nothing about overclocking and safety with those things. I've heard that overclocked RX 580 is basically RX 590 and that overclocked 2600 is basically 2600X - and that's what I got. So from where I was standing, that combo is still the best combo a money can buy for that price. RX 580 and 2600 are THE COMBO to get on a tight budget, just familiarize yourself with safe overclocking for that oh so sweet free boost.

These CPU & GPUs can be had 2nd hand for quite cheap. You potentially could build a whole working system (so incl. windows) like this for little over 200 quid if you're patient (and a bit lucky). It's a sport to me getting the best parts for as little money as possible.

I was lucky. Bought my RX 480 XT 8GB in 2017 and due to the factory defect, it died in early 2020. Since its warranty hadn't expired, the shop replaced it with an RX 5600 XT. 2017 was a good year for gaming and to have a RX 480/580.

i got a 5600G, and msi red dragon 580 8gb, plus a asus gaming board from cex for just £160, i spent around another £100 for ram, an ssd, and psu, so for £260 I got a 1080p MAX SETTINGS at 60fps pretty much on every game, so its really easy, mainly due to the glut of cheaper AMD 5 series cards on the market, even now, 6 months later, so it really is a great scenario for budget gamers, I have seen 580 cards for as low as £65.

The 1600 AF, (if you could get it for $85-$100) and 2600($120) were selling like hot cakes paired with the venerable RX 580$(100). For a tiny bit more around $140, the 3600 was a step up that time.

I've been using this combo since 2019 and it's still solid (even if the GPU sometimes complains a little with drivers). I would suggest not to go higher than 2933 MHz with the RAM which is the maximum supported on the R5 2600, it can run higher but it is sometimes unstable and I've not seen a big improvement in terms of performance between 2933 and say 3200 MHz.
