Oh my god you’re alive :’) Are you going to be making any videos on unit 5 content anytime soon ? Or revision videos maybe ? For stuff like the structure of the brain? That would be really helpful

Brain video unlikely at this point. Want to make more vids on exam skills that are generally more useful this close to exams, rather than specific bio content.

Dr Bhavsar that is the saddest news . Ok I realize this isn’t how it works, but what if we convince you we want a video on the brain/ eye ( rhodopsin stuff and action potential stuff. ( you choose) ? Rather than a more general video since most of us finished the more general exam- unit 6. Say we get this comment to 50 likes ? Or your video to 100 likes ? My exam is on June 10 If we could get this video or comment ( your call) to the respective amount of likes before the start of June, will you be able to post a video on one of the two topics above before our exam ? I sense I am going to get blocked after this, but I’m desperate and it’s worth the try.

Ok. If you’re super specific about exactly what it is that a textbook or revision guide can’t help you with I will definitely consider doing a video. I just thought brain structure is something you could revise. But if it’s more complicated than that I’m open to suggestions. Keep it specific and better yet, give me the references to your spec.

Dr Bhavsar ohhh that would be so so great. I will suggest 3 specific topics that I can’t understand and ofc you pick whatever takes less time or whatever you want and I’m also gonna add a link to the pages of each topic in the book . I do edexcel A2 Spec: imgur.com/a/tWYsRnL 1- a topic called visual development on “critical periods” and “critical windows.” Point 11 in the spec book: imgur.com/a/Sl4v5zm 2-A topic called “Problems with the synapses” on Parkinson’s disease and depression. Points 17 and 18 in the Spec imgur.com/a/rcKmD2o 3- A topic called Human Genome project and it’s outcomes . Mp19 imgur.com/a/i7ssQqJ

would we need to learn the actual practicals that are done in class? eg how to perform dissections on the heart, chromatography with photosynthetic pigments?
@LSCBiology

Yes, you would. But if you go through enough exam questions, you’ll find summarised forms of those practicals in the markschemes.

Can you please do a video on apparatuses used in experiments such as a potometre

you will be seeing more practical videos here. thanks for the suggestion.

Is it possible that the question doesn't want an independent variable? The question asks me to 'Plan an investigation into the rate of transpiration in two species of plant that would allow valid result to be collected. Details of how to set up a potometer are not required.' And the mark scheme only mentions control variables:( I've no idea how to write😭

So you want to compare transpiration in two plant species. The independent variable is the plant species. The control variables would be the things you’d need to keep the same in both experiments so that you can tell if the two plants actually have different transpiration rates or not. Eg, temperature of experiment.

@@LSCBiology the mark scheme says to I have to write down the method - but the question says i dont have to say about how to set up potometer so is the method the independent dependent control variables what and how to measure? Or something else?
