How do you take care of your chicks in the winter ?

I try not to incubate many in the winter. The hens do most of the work, but I take the legs off my chick brooders and put em 2" above the ground (The brooders have a wire mesh as flooring). I wrap the entire brooder with an old aboveground pool lining (nylon) and turn on a heat lamp on (nights) and I use incandescent bulbs during the day. I make adjustments to have the side of the brooder that doesn't have lamps be cool so that chicks can go back and forth.

I'm glad you do, thank you for watching. Regarding the holes, around 1ft wide and 9 inches long. I cut em closer to the lid but leave the rim, I like to put the lid back on.
