What's life in a forgotten little dusty corner of far southern Osaka, Japan like? I took the Hankai Tramway, Osaka's only streetcar, south from Tennoji to the stop at Anryūmachi (安立町) to take a look. The area is rough-and-tumble - decaying, but only to a point. Amid the rusty iron shacks and misshapen little alleyways are quaint shops, gorgeous old temples (I got a spontaneous private tour of one), and the friendliest people in all of Japan.
