The angle between the pair of wires on each side has to be a minimum of 60 degrees ideally 80-90 degrees and not more than 120 degrees. Such contraptions are very dangerous for everyone involved or not.

This is actually the same way I saw a contractor load his bobcats into a building being demolished right here in Philadelphia PA this past week. It was done multiple times to facilitate trash removal on several floors. There are 4 contractors all taking the said building apart, and all 4 are union. The best part of watching them came when the skid steer got to run around on the roof dismantling old UHF antenna's and drain pipe with ease! Trash was being pushed off the building in heaps!

I am so glad our country has rules and regulations to protect not only our construction workers but the general public. This is a clear indication of a contractor taking lackadaisical risks with the lives of their staff. I can only imagine this is from a poor country with no, or lax attitudes to work safety. Hope the profits were worth it.

GEEZE... its a 236B Series 3 Skid Steer Loader It wont let me post the link to CAT's site but you can read the numbers right on the side. It look like at least 1 inch of plate steel welded to I beams with welded safety rails. And the load is well within the Cranes capacity especially at that boom angle and one of the cables could support the weight of that thing, and there are 4, standard engineering. Cool idea, i just don't know about standing under it, and not holding traffic. LOL

at 3:47 he lashes it down with slinging material. the platform itself is strengthened/ reinforced under the platform with two I beams. The I beam nearest the building has a dual purpose, 1st strengthening/reiforcing the platform & two,it fits snug against the side of the building at floor level (a good crane operator sees to that part) this ensures a smooth entrance/exit onto the platform and entrance/exit to the building as well.

Center of gravity would matter if the basket was rigged from the cage of the bobcat, but the bobcat is on a rigged platform, the center of gravity is still off but not by much, the main concern here is the placement of the beams, and they are below the wheels in the right place. and by the looks of those cable they more more than large enough to carry the load, and the platform has rails. Looks legit to me. I am glad I fast forwarded it I was expecting the bobcat was gonna roll off the platform LMAO.

This is a building demolition job. The skid steer loaders would first do their clean out jobs on each floor. Eventually, the crane would use the steel ball to slowly knock the front of the wall open all the way to the bottom floor so the crane operator can see the full inside of the buiding. The steel ball would then be dropped to punch a hole in the floors starting from the top floor and going all the way to the basement. This allows the debris to fall all the way to the basement as each floor's hole is enlarged. The highest floor walls are then slowly knocked inward toward the center of the building and down the hole. When most of the highest floor's walls are knocked in, then the highest floor is knocked in and dropped down that now big hole in the floor.on the floor below. You just work down using this procedure until the structure is low enough for the excavators to reach up and pull down what is left. I used to be a demolition crane operator. It's a dangerous job. Hit something the wrong way, and the whole wall can come crassing down on you. When I got that job, the previous operator was killed by falling debris.

the idea is good, but the way its been done here is just scary! with the majority of the weight of the skidsteer on the back, and the cables and girders so close togeather, you would think if he backed on a little further the whole unit could overbalance backwards. maybe if the cables were further apart or if the cables were replaced with rigid steel, to prevent tipping, would look safer anyways. still, an amazing video!

Off the top of my head, 5 serious things wrong here: 1. No taped off area below indicating lifting 2. No harness/lanyard/retractable or attachment to dedicated life line while backing it onto the platform. 3. NOT a certified platform to be moving 8,000 lbs with. Looks like it was made in a god dam garage. The I-Beams are warped under the load, not even going to discuss the platform and railings. 4. No tag line 5. No securing of platform while loading/unloading Gotta love the private sector.

I ran Linkbelt 238 a 150 ton 200 ft boom friction crane erecting steel for years. Now all slow hydraulic rigs. That's are safer. I would have spread the rigging slings wider to back and front of platform though. Skid steer only 5000 lbs light weight . Gotta warm up your hoist brakes good to lower whip line smooth also. No swing brakes either on friction long booms. Not many left anymore all hydro cranes easy to run safer boring.
