"Holy shi..." Your not kidding, I thought you were done for when all that armour appeared, you've managed extremely well considering what you have at your disposal 👍🍻

Great stuff as always, this campaign seems really punishing in terms of the Soviet’s armour advantage. It is a good job that the AI isn’t advanced enough to understand the intricacies of combined arms tank assaults, otherwise this campaign might be over already.

well, actually this is pretty much the picture of the Red Army command at that time of war, very disorganized and poor tactics mixed up with some degree of panic.

Historically soviets weren't properly utilizing combined arms (at this point of the war) anyway . They'd send in tanks and infantry , but the tanks would either ride away or the infantry would be seperated from the tanks by german artillery.

@@madigorfkgoogle9349 it makes for a good demonstration of how the brief superiority that T-34s and KV-1s had over german tanks and field guns was squandered in these opening phases of Barbarossa.

From the periodic report of the 129TBde as of the 21st: at 7:30 on 20.8.1941, the brigade (38 tanks) attacked the enemy in the direction of Styagaylovka, Zasulye, Romny. During the attack near Zasulye, enemy infantry let the tanks through their lines, while cutting off the dismounted cavalry. As a result, the tanks came under strong artillery fire and 26 tanks were lost.

@@pp-wo1sd also maybe important detail was the lack of radio in Soviet tanks, so if infantry got halted, tanks continued to roll without knowing that they are "naked".

Another jolly good whipping against the odds, kind of them to send their tanks in without any supporting infantry and bare their behinds while they're at it!

But quite on point for the Soviets at this stage of the war :)

Recon units can be deployed in hostile territory. Thats why you got flanked so early on in the match. Makes it just a little bit more difficult.

I am not sure that’s quite right (about lack of restrictions for recon). But the game does have a feature where each battle starts in a mode with troops unable to see the enemy, and that is gradually lifted over 5 minutes. That often becomes the cause of infiltration. And, until recently, there was also a bug with troops ended up outside of their deployment zone.

Maybe you could you have fired some smoke shells at that KV1 to blind it.
@Tonci87

That could work. The infantry will usually throw smoke grenades at tanks to blind it.

unfortunaltly it seems that the game works only with one simple scripting of assault order .. else the tanks would not advanced to next point without any infantry support .. .. how ever i just got a draw in this campaign (with normal artillery use in preferences) .. so as i said really a very challenging campaign

The tank assaults we see here are quite on point for the Soviets at this stage of the war. Tanks and Infantry weren´t integrated well.
