Yes, I know many people who would pick Edmonton over Calgary. I think it’s all about preferences and job opportunities. If I find a very good job and I know I can get clients in Edmonton, I’ll move there in an instant. Cost of living in Calgary is getting out of hand😅

Thank you. I can't give accurate figures because I came here almost 4 years ago when prices and inflation were low. Things are more expensive now, from application fees to flight tickets.....also because the naira has dipped so much in the last few years

You’re welcome. It would depend on how prepared you are. I came in as a permanent resident and it took me 9 months to settle in and start my photography business on the side. Some people settle in from day one and start immediately, so it really depends

@@DailyDDD more opportunities for jobs and business for sure, Calgary is the No.3 city in Canada now, so you know why people who can’t afford to live in Vancouver or Toronto come here. And there’s a huge Nigerian community here, I’m sure there is in Edmonton too

Glad it was helpful! There is rentster.ca which is what I am familiar with, but you can also find roommates on FB marketplace. Please just do your research and make sure you’re going to be living with a sane person 😊

Hello. I’m not sure because I don’t know any morticians. But what you can do is to check indeed.ca and see if there are jobs available for morticians. Grants are usually available for permanent residents and citizens, I’m not so sure about international students. I hope this helps. Thank you

My advice would be to check indeed or ALIS and search for data scientist jobs. you can also use glassdor to have an idea of salary. Sometimes we need a bit of luck to land a good job regardless of what province we move to

Yes, but please do your research properly. You can legally look for work on a visitors visa, and if you get, you can apply for a work permit which will let you stay longer

As far as I can tell, PRs and citizens are the ones entitled to loans and grants and child benefits. For students, you may get scholarships in some schools if you do well in your first year, that’s as much as I know 😊

Edmonton is slightly cheaper to live in, Calgary is more expensive with many fun attractions and more opportunities. You can’t go wrong with either. SAIT or UofC in Calgary and NAIT or UofA in Edmonton….all great choices

Is anyone asking you to pay more than a month? That’s not legal. I know landlords are obliged to get a security deposit from you, but not to ask you to pay 3-6 months in advance

@@Fidel67 it’s going to be very difficult because most landlords always want someone with some sort of history and references. It’s however not impossible as you might find a lenient landlord or someone who wants to rent out a basement

If you go with a Landlord, you’ll most likely pay monthly, and they’ll require one month rent as security deposit, meaning you’ll be paying 2 months worth the first time. If you go with a condo apartment management agency like boardwalk, they may require 3 months advance, thereafter, you’ll pay monthly

Well you really can’t work in Canada legally except you have a work permit. The good thing is that you can get a work permit on your visitors visa. There’s more information on this if you check the Canada.ca website
