Another quick escape from Madrid during these crazy Covid-infused days, weeks and months.
This time Steve and I venture out to an area quite badly hit by the virus: the País Vasco.
Spain's northern Basque region is a land of pinchos, green hills, doughy skies and isolated villages.
Using glorious Bilbao as a base, we eat as much as we can and head to the hills when possible in an effort to escape the heat of the capital.
We visit Algorta and Plentizia, two old ports reachable on the metro. Then day trips to Bermeo-Mundaka and Balmaseda.
We ate a LOT and there were various accidentally unplanned hikes.
