Not a huge difference, but a noticeable one. The C2 is obviously crushing gamma & shadows significantly less than the C1. I think it results in a more accurate & pleasing picture.

Yeah. As evidenced by most of my comparisons, near black detail is better on the C2. The C2 is also brighter. That said, some prefer the more saturated, contrasty look of the C1, even if there is some black crush.

Does the C1 look like is has a lot more detail? The highlights seem blown out on the C2. The C2 also seems over saturated. It’s super had to judge unless you are in the actual room but I like the C1 more from this comparison in what I see on my iPad.

C2 just has much better shadow detail, which can sometimes make it look like it has less contrast and depth. Also, the C2 is a fair bit brighter in this comparison, so it gets a bit overexposed by the camera making it look blown out at times. The C1 often crushes shadow detail oob which can give the appearance better contrast and color saturation at a glance.

I will take the C1. The C2 looks blown out at times. The C1 to me looks more natural and that's what I like. But it's close. You cant go wrong with either tv.

I hear ya. Better perceived contrast and depth on the C1 - at the cost of crushed near black details. The C2 can sometimes appear to lack the same amount of depth because of its improved near black visibility. C2 is also brighter here, which leads to the camera overexposing it a bit at times.

In this video the C2 looks like it is clipping a lot of specular highlights but I assume that just because the C2 is much brighter than the c1. I am wondering if the G2 is noticeable better then the c2?!?!
@steadychaosproductions3376
2 жыл бұрын
I think from a brightness standpoint, the G2 would be noticeably better than the C2. I think the G2 hits around 1000 nits, while the C2 about 850 or so. Yeah, in this clip the C2 is quite a bit brighter than the C1, so the camera tends to blow out some of the highlights a bit.

How come the image of the movie isnt fully displayed across the whole screen? I don't like black bars. I saw a video where you were talking about the WBE and WBC panels for the 42inch C2 model. Do you have any idea if I would buy a model right now that I would get a WBE panel? Thank you for the work you do.
@steadychaosproductions3376

Most movies have black letter box bars on the top and bottom unless they are shot in Imax. After Q2 of this year, LG claims WBE panels will be applied sequentially...whatever that means. In my honest opinion, there is no guarantee for all of 2022 that the 42" C2 you get will be WBE.

@@steadychaosproductions3376 Thank you for the info. Would someone that does not have a comparison between a WBE and WBC notice a huge difference in quality? How could I tell if I got a 42 inch C2 with a WBC panel or a WBE? Is that measurable and is it a valid reason to let a local store check beforehand what panel is in the box?
@steadychaosproductions3376
Жыл бұрын
@@TenguWarrior92 No, by and large, there would not be any picture quality differences between WBC and WBE at 42-48 inches. But, WBE is likely more resistant to burn in due to its deuterium based nature. At 55" and up, WBE does make a difference - the panels are brighter than WBC at those sizes. There is no way to tell for certain if you have WBE unless you have a very expensive device called a spectroradiometer. LG used to allow people to find out panel type in the service menu of the TV, but that capability has been intentionally removed. LG also used to include a specific letter in the TV's serial number (on the back of the TV) to distinguish between WBE and WBC, but that too has been removed. LG doesnt want people to know, in other words, because if they get WBC, they get mad and return the panel. You could try looking at your TV off angle to see if there is a pink tint with bright white images. If there is, then it likely means you have a WBE panel. With all that said, my C2 is WBC and I'm happy with it. My C1 is WBE and I cant tell any difference.

keep in mind it could partially be the camera...but overall this is a good representation of the two tvs side by side and what one can expect from both. On the whole, the C1 just doesn't have the best near black gamma tracking - it overtracks OOB. This can be somewhat improved with calibration, but not entirely fixed.

c2 is clearly brighter, I agree. But why were people talking smack on the 42 and 48 inch size of the c2. Or is the 55 c2 vs c1 brightness difference even more than video is showing
@steadychaosproductions3376
Жыл бұрын
Because the 42" is coming with mixed panel type, WBE and WBC. And because the 42 and 48" models are generally not as bright as the 55" and up models due to what LG calls "pixel aperture ratio." In other words, the 42 and 48 are simply "too small" to emit the same level of light as the larger 55" models and above.

@@steadychaosproductions3376 ok gotcha. Hey i got my eyes on the 42" a90k, same price as C2 42 right now. You think that has the new WBE, and can get just as bright?
@steadychaosproductions3376

@@sammy10001 I think it will get just as bright as the C2, yes. My suspicion is that it may also be a panel lottery with a mix of WBE and WBC. LG has promised by end Q2 this year that they would start phasing in more and more WBE panels to the 42" C2. I'm not sure where Sony stands on this issue at the moment.

@highdefnews175

It’s because of the gamma. The C1 had raised gamma low end gamma out of the box that darkened colors artificially & crushed shadow detail. The C2 seems to have corrected that this year.
