Season One: Daydreaming
Vlog Four: A wood block print from start to finish
.
Thank you all for stopping by! I hope everyone has had a great week, and I hope everyone has a great week to come!
.
Todays video focuses on the creation of a set of blocks for a traditional wood block print. Within the last year, I have really begun to develop both the obsession and fascination with traditional Japanese wood block printmaking. It all started, like most of us trying our hand at mokuhanga, with seeing a video from David Bull. Unlike my painting and drawing work, I consider this more of a hobby than work. The image is drawn directly from a frame from Studio Ghibli's My Neighbor Totoro. I thought it would be a really simple, lovely object once the prints were finished, I think once I do a proper print run they will be! I really tried to increase the quality of the audio in this one, trying to bring it closer to the ASMR quality. I don't know if I succeeded overall, but I do think it was an overall improvement. Anyways... I hope everyone has a fantastic week.
