Hey brother, good to see you again. You chopping this year? I try to keep the shop organized, but it’s always a constant struggle to keep it that way. Worth doing though. Makes work more efficient and enjoyable.

@@KevinsDisobedience No I'm not chopping very much for the past months, too much going on in my life :/, struggling with work trying to keep my tribe out of trouble during this bad economics. I'm super late with my woodstack as well, , this summer was just too hot here to work outside (40°C average) and I don't remember last time it rain, everything is ready to burn at the first spark so I'm waiting a bit and I'll go for seasoned dead trees. But I'm glad you guys keep making videos, I'm chopping by proxy thanks to you :D

That's really nice. I actually saw one of those for sale online once. I just finished restoring a Goodyear double bit. Yes, that Goodyear! I didn't even know they ever made axes.
@KevinsDisobedience
Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a couple doubles for sale, but never a Connie. Do you know who made the Goodyear? I have a Michigan with a John Deere sticker on it. Promotional axes were popular in the 80s and early 90s. But I don’t know who actually made the axe for them.

@@KevinsDisobedience I can't find much information online. Some people have mentioned that Goodyear made axes and tools in the 1950s or 1960s. A friend of mine said that Goodyear had the resources to manufacture their own tools, but I don't think that's likely. It sure is an interesting piece though. It actually has the wingfoot stamped into it.

Beautiful !!! Truly. Though not rare, I put one of my Grandpa's Holts Bruk double bit cruisers, I stumbled across while clearing brush, on a Killinger Red Elm straight haft 27 5/8" with Purple Heart wedge...

These aren’t rare? I rarely see them come up for sale, and when they do they are typically double bits for $300+. I’ve literally never seen another Connie, especially in this condition, but then I don’t look often. What do you know about the maker. I’ve had trouble finding solid info on it. The French Curve is a sexy pattern, isn’t it. Thanks

This one was a bitch, but I got it there. Nah, all of us cordwood guys use flip discs. Just to convenient. Make a mess in the shop though, especially when roughing out a blank. Better to do it outside if you can. Thanks for watching, brother.

Really cool piece of history. I notice a lot of axe heads, especially double bits that I’ve acquired, have crooked eyes or poor bit alignment on the head. Not sure why. It’s cool to see you were able to fix it. Looks really good!

I’ve had a couple axes with warped eyes. Definitely more common than you would think, especially older axes before they had the process more or less automated. I wasn’t able to get it perfect, but it’s not bad at all now. Took awhile, but we got it there.

@@KevinsDisobedience If I think I know you as well as I think do, no way are you gonna leave the axe alone. Especially when you sharpen the edge up. You'll be thinking to yourself looking at the bit of shiny steel and can't help but pick it up. Then one thing will lead to another, the axe is four inches deep in a tree and your edge will be nice and dirty with tree sap. I have that same problem and we're here together to help get each other through this.
