George Vickery volunteered to fight in two wars. He was in action during the later stages of the Anglo Boer War in 1901, and went on to experience the hell of WW1 trench warfare in France before being wounded in action (a second time) and evacuated to England. He would later be discharged as no longer fit for service due to the wound he had sustained in France. He was a true warrior.
