This is a great interview of a great man. I've been playing the piano since I was7, and I'm now 71. When folks ask me howbi learned to play, I tell them I had 4 teachers, Eddy Duchin, Carmen Cavallaro, Liberace, and Roger Williams. I used to set up my phonograph next to my piano, and play along with their records. To this day I can't read music, but I can play everything in the Great American Songbook and thousands of other songs. Thank you Liberace, I couldn't have done it without you.

Re: early, live television. I'm 70 years old and remember watching "Lee" as well as Oscar Levant on B&W TV. I remember Lee and his brother having a fight on live TV on time. As a musician myself, I have always thought Oscar to be the more brilliant. But, for showmanship, Lee was right up there with Victor Borge and even Chico Marx!

You know, when he was alive he set up the Liberace Foundation. It gives to very meaningful charity(s) that promote musical learning for the less advantaged, in many different ways. Then when he died, he left his fortune to that foundation charity he set up (equal to roughly 300 million dollars today). An incredibly loving human being indeed.
