Franco was Oscar snubbed for this and disaster artist

Although the amputation is what made this movie famous, the story in and of itself is just as powerful. I think this is about as close to the true story as we're ever gonna get. This scene alone disturbs me and breaks my heart every time I watch it.

Despite that it is a good film, what disturbs me the most is not that some of the imaginary audience audibly are heard laughing, but he is too. It somewhat relieves the tension by the fact that he laughs along, but it is heartbreaking still given the context, not merely the audience, but the fact that he (the man who he know who quite possibly will die) laughs at his own grim situation. Imagine doing that to yourself in any real situation whenever you are in dire peril.

Dark humor paired with an actual heartbreaking moment, and still working perfectly. James Franco's performance paired with good direction and editing makes this scene amazing, possibly the best in the movie. Edited because typo

I broke down in tears near the end when he was being real it hit me right in my heart comes from an amazing actor like James but also the fact this happened for REAL just makes it more heartbreaking 💔

The laugh track is somewhat sad, but somewhat entertaining to watch, because even though imaginary people can audibly be heard laughing, he is too. Rather grim if taken out of context, but still a little hilarious given that he laughs too.

This is actually a scene the movie took liberties with but really made it work. The real Ralston said he didn't do this, but it really portrays how bad his situation was. But he really did record his last will in case he died.

Love this movie. One of my top 50 of all time. Amazing movie that commemorates an amazing real life story. Says a lot about humans and how far down we will gladly travel in order to walk out of a situation alive.

This is the only scene i don't like, not because it was james's idea to make it but because this didn't even happened and it's far from being realistic and he don't even sound like he's getting crazy.

The opposite, he was then getting crazy creating a surrealistic moment of a reality show about his situation.
