Here's an old public school building that was built in 1894, original school building had 10 classrooms, 4 each on the 1st and 2nd floor and in the basement 2 more classrooms with the bathrooms, and a really big stair case in the middle of it.. then an annex building built in the 1900s with four classrooms including a boiler room downstairs and 4 new staircases 2 going upstairs and 2 going in the basement, which the original big staircase was demolished which then the library formerly stood upon in the 2nd floor ,,, then another building built in 1936 which has 4 classrooms 2 more bathrooms and a gym and one more set of stairs,, so total of 18 classrooms.. the school was named after Seldon M Church a Postmaster at Rockford, Ill., 1841-43; delegate to Illinois state constitutional convention from Winnebago County, 1847. . School closed down in 1993 and eventually sold for $36,000 to a reverend who wanted to turn it into a church which never happened , & didn't take care of it and let it get destroyed due to lack of money,, then in 2011 the city foreclosed on it and still currently owns it. A wonderful lady named Bonnie met up with the city of Rockford and arranged for us to get a tour of this magnificent building ! I hope you all enjoy this and leave a comment! thank you ( music : we'll meet again by Vera Lynn)
