Welcome to another Abaqus tutorial!
In this tutorial I show you how to model and analyse an assembly of two hinges connected by a rigid pin.
The process is divided into 5 sections (each with their own video).
1. Creating the first part by 3D extrusion and adding the flange feature. ( • ABAQUS #6 - Two hinges... )
2. Creating the second part by copying and editing the first part and creating the hinge using a revolved shell. ( • ABAQUS #6 - Two hinges... )
3.Creating an assembly by adding and positioning instances of the parts. ( • ABAQUS #6 - Two hinges... )
4. Define analysis steps and contact surfaces. I show you how to define the contact surfaces manually and automatically. ( • ABAQUS #6 - Two hinges... )
5. Mesh the parts, create boundary conditions, add loads, specify field outputs and finally run an analysis and look at the deformations. ( • ABAQUS #6 - Two hinges... )
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did making it! I would love to hear your thoughts, comments and suggestions for future videos, so please leave me a comment below.
