People can usually tell there's something different about me, but they won't automatically think asd then when I say that I am they are like "ohhh" like "that makes sense" type of tone. Some do use that baby voice and I look at them like they're an idiot.

4:20, well yes, that, and cerebral palsy. A depressing amount of people don't know the difference between autism, down's syndrome, cerebral palsy and learning disability. (the UK term for intellectual disability.) 8:45 case in point, that dance was also referencing the body movements of someone with cerebral palsy. 11:33 studies have shown than 1/3 doctors in the UK believe that autism = learning disability. Autistic people have actually had to fight to get "learning disability" taken off their medical records.

i think I might have adhd girl, idk but people would always tell me I had this off feeling and unsettling feeling when they first meet me… I always felt misunderstood by my family, friends, and teachers throughout my life. It’s getting to me…and i think I might be neurodivergent or some shit… I always lacked confidence, suffered with low self esteem, struggle with attention, following directions, and not becoming too distracted or compulsive…

@@Rodrick-lf4rli try not to self diagnose because it might make me seem an attention seeker. A lot of people still stigmatize people with neurodivergence and a lot of people are still default to being ableist and using ableist words such as retarted, dumb, stupid, crazy, insane, and weirdo. I don’t want to face discrimination and violence. I know a lot of people who are recently diagnosed with autism or adhd face workplace bullying, family ostracism, lack of romantic relationships, lack of real friends, and facing loneliness. People in our everyday life can be a POS sometimes. No one has the time to educate themselves about neurodiversity and being neurodivergent not neurotypical. People are too busy trying to survive in this capitalist economy as live in. We all are exhausted, angry, burned out, depressed, and just overworked…😮💨😮💨

@@Rodrick-lf4rlexactly, you know them TikTokers fake mental illness , mental disorders, and fake neurodivergence for likes, comment sympathy supporters, and whatever. But these people are making some of us look like we are clout chasers and shit. This is why ableism is normalized in our society because people might come to a confirmation bias against you. Or accuse you of being bratty, selfish, attention seeking, or just self absorbed. To the point where they gaslight you and try to make you look like the villain and victimize themselves lol. It’s so sad but really true. 💀💀

Even my mom notices it and it became more pronounced in my teenage years as soon as I turned 13 for my 13th birthday…🙃

Loved the vid! One question, how do you feel about autistic people reclaiming the slur for personal non ableist use? I personally still find hearing the word painful, but my friend does it when i am not around which seems fine, as long as it's only in known consenting company. Would love to hear your thoughts though!
