Nice amps. Got 2 Acom-1000 and two IC-7300. Using one "setup" for HF and one for 50MHz.

Hi,interesting video, but if you read the manual, it states begin with low power, and then turn the power up, to the required power,,its what the Acom manual recommends,,thanks 73s from Rotterdam.

Interesting, thanks. Simple novice question I guess - say you only wanted 400W and not 800W. Once set up, if you reduce the input power by 50% (e.g. down to about 25W) will the power output also reduce by the same amount, or there about? Quite a few amps I have looked seem to be designed to be driven at max - and the adjustment down from the max appears to be the input drive power? Just curious.

Thank you for commenting here and watching my video. You are spot on. If you reduce the input power by half the final output power from the amp will be cut in half, approximately. There's probably a formula for that somewhere. Thank again and best 73!

Do you use the Acom 1000 with the Icom IC-7300 on FT8 mode? cannot get mine to trigger transmit. Want to save my PA on the 7300, any thoughts Rich? 73 Phil G0BVD

Are you feeding it 110VAC or 220? trying to decide if I need to bring in a dedicated 220 outlet.

What about the 811. Can you do a video on that amp if you still have it

Hi and thank you for asking. Yes I do have it and it’s not putting out for power but I was going to do a video on it just for the heck of it. The tubes aren’t that expensive, but since I have the ACOM I don’t think I’ll buy anymore tubes just yet. Thanks for coming here and 73!

Question...just picked up a 7610 and have acom 1000. Do u only use an rca plug from send on icom to key in on acom? Besides antenna? What delay setting do u use in 7610? Thank u
@vtxcs

Yes, I only use an RCA cable and I set the PTT delay to 20ms in the ICOM settings. I have a 7300 and an A1000 ACOM with a Palstar HF-Auto tuner that I just got about 2 months ago. My first auto tuner in 30+ years! Everything works great, no hot switching. de. AB5VJ

Why tuner in Bypass? Tune antenna then put in Bypass? Thanks

On that particular frequency the tuner is not needed.

is it safe to directly key the acom with the radio? without using a keying interface like the ameritron arb-704?
@HamRadioAdventures

Hi Corey, thanks for coming here and yes I’ve never used an interface. Just a keying cable. I have heard not to use a cable from the accessory port on the back of the radio to the amplifier. If a pin accidentally got shorted out it would be disaster. I am using just a shielded RCA type cable. Happy new year and good DX in 2020!

you dont need a tuner. the manual states it will tune up to 3:1 match without a tuner. I says tuner not needed. "No heavy outboard antenna tuners required for antenna VSWR up to 3:1 "

@@1112223333111 Thank you for commenting and yes you are correct it can handle 3:1 VSWR. It does that very well. Take care, be safe, best 73!
