Ben Hascom yeah i can understand spending money on things that you can enjoy, but at the point you have a million dollars of stuff just sitting in a safe. You can literally look at it. It’s not a game, it doesn’t do anything, it’s not fun, it just sits there.

@@nickxcaliber7991 not to mention fuego coming along on a once in a lifetime accident or nature being a monster. Loosing that much money in intrinsic valued assets is mind boggling. Definitely hits home for me. I see this all the time on my facebook. I see friends who went crazy with student loans, they studied a stupid major (can't get a job), and their financial situation 12 years after 18 years old is in complete shambles. Loaded with debt and now many of their life choices are limited because everything has to be focused on debt repayment. Now they can't go on vacations and can't have fun because of all the debt. When they look at people like me who have zero debt and paid cash for my entire college degree they call me "lucky"...meanwhile forgetting to realize that I was working full time since age 18 while going to school full time. I was also not blowing my money on going out. I was investing it wisely and avoided debt like the plague.

Man, the message behind this truly hit hard... I’ve been through, as quite a few of us have, depressing times and mad bad decisions for that one card “we’be always wanted” or even sometimes for “show”. I personally hugely admire the fact that you got this message out and articulated it so well. Cudos Scott, once again a great video 👍🏻

Very interesting, and this kind of attitude (albeit i dont have the value in my collection as you) being mortgage free(not there yet but close), car payment free, debt free at the age of 29 is much more appealing to me than it is to have a massive house, have a fancy car but be paying out money every month

The farther your mind can sit outside of society's pressure, the more money you'll have to play with. I make about $50k a year but I only eat a total of cheap bulk-purchased food items that I prepare myself, I drive a 2001 Honda, I bike to work when I can, I invest spare money, and I feel insecure with less than $10,000 in my bank account. When the mood strikes I travel or waste money like my friends do out on the town to fit in but I want financial excellence and it's going to take time and discipline to get there.

OMG everyone, literally everyone I work with live way beyond their means and are so ostentatious its annoying. Many of my 45k per year without 401k or raises colleagues drive $80,000 BMW's or leased Cadillacs. Its pretty pathetic since they walk around thinking they are hot shit, especially since they are just salespeople.

You must have a business degree in your back pocket as you are one of the few who seems to understand whats going on. My friends are literally the same as the description you just mentioned while im over here trying to make sure I dont overspend and I am prepare for the potential recession without having to move assets. I buy collections weekly for all the card games, and Im sure youre one of the few who can relate on how much of a headache it can be to explain how prices now may or may not be the same 6 months from now. Alot of people also dont understand time value of money. Its a concept that seems to be getting lost in the shuffle. Its one of the ideas I use in determining whether or not I want to sell now or later. You cant predict the future, or all of us wouldnt have sold out 1st ed base set collections or our cards in general.
