Thank you, I just was diagnosed this weekend, I knew something was happening, I knew it wasn't a stroke, but I knew something has started. I took the Moderna shot, I am 99.99% sure it came from it. Reason from the very first shot I had symptoms' and they never stopped starting with the headache, ear hurting, ect., I never have had ear hurting or anything close, it doesn't run in my family so I am very sure it came from the Moderna Shot. I thank you for helping us and knowing how to take care of BellsPalsy. I do not think I have it as bad as most people, I think because I went to the ear as soon as I felt my face starting to droop, and couldn't swallow water or whistle, a thing I do to call my cats to come and eat. Again Thank you for taking the time to help us:) , PS according to CDC trials were done and sure enough people got the BellsPasly a mont after to the date as did I and sure enough to the date it happen. That to me points to the shot:(

I have left-sided facial paralysis following surgery to remove a tumor at the base of my brain. My surgeon has stated that the likely paralysis recovery time is 6 months. Several specialists (at NYU Langone) have encouraged exercises as part of my recovery therapy. I'm doing those exercises, but can feel absolutely nothing on the affected side. I do feel touch there however and slow massage feels great. I can only hope that I regain control of my face many months from now...
@CrystalTouchClinic
3 жыл бұрын
We hope as well that you will recover. You feel the touch, warmth and other sensations on your affected side because in our face, senosry and motor signals are transmitted using different nerves. In facial palsy, due to swelling, only the motor neuron becomes affected - so you lack movements but you still feel all the sensations. The sensory nerve is not affected. There is a possibility of developing some residuals and complications, following the long recovery. Make sure to pracice facial relaxation and gentle massages, as suggested in this video. This, potentially, may help you to reduce the severity of possible residuals. Try not to go too hard on the exercises. In our experience, the harder you try to tense your facial muscles, the higher are the chances to develop synkinesis or contractures later on. Facial relaxation is your best friend in this case. If you will be interested in further advice, you can get back to us after at least 6 weeks since the onset (after your surgery) will pass. Then we will be able to have more details on your condition, see where this is going and how it could progress further. To get in touch you can send us an email (info@crystal-touch.nl) or register for a diagnostic session: crystal-touch.nl/online-facial-palsy-analysis/

I am 15 years old, and I have a Bells palsy since October(6 weeks). I had the 2. Pfizer doze on 13 September. What do you think, will it completely recover?
@CrystalTouchClinic
2 жыл бұрын
Dear Lucas, 6 weeks is still quite early. If your movements start returning soon, then there is a high probability of full recovery. But please do not force your facial movements. Wait for them to slowly and gradually return by themselves. They will not reinnervate all at once. First, your facial tonus will return - your affected side will look less flacid. You may also start feeling some tickling, vibrations, or similar feelings. That is a sign of your muscles beginning to reconnect with the facial nerve. Then, you should start noticing some muscles (it can be any of the facial muscles) twitching or moving slightly. These are all beginning signs of recovery. Soon after that the facial muscles will begin to move more. It is very, very important in this stage to not put pressure on your muscles. You might get excited seeing first movements and wanting to move them more, forcing them into facial expressions. Please try to avoid that. Because the reconnection with the facial nerve happens very slowly, not all muscles reconnect fully from the beginning, and you will be forcing only some parts of your muscles to do the movement of the full muscle. And that can lead to contractures. Take it easy. Recovery after facial palsy happens very slowly. If you won't be noticing any changes within a few months, that means that the recovery is following a long-term path and it may take longer for your facial movements to return. In this case, possibility of full recovery is less. But please don't get discouraged. If this will be the case in your situation, feel free to reach out to our specialists via info@crystal-touch.nl and we can help you from there.

I’ve had Bell’s palsy now for around 3 months. I have a couple questions to ask if you could help me out.. lately, prolly within the last month I’ve started experiencing muscle twitches in my upper lip. Also sometimes when I’m talking I can feel like my lips are tensing up kinda. Are these signs that I’m trying to regain the facial nerves. Basically what I’m asking is am I doing good on my way to recovery or is that things I don’t want to happen in my recovery. Also sometimes my face is so sore. When I’m washing my face I tend to scrub a little and it’s like the muscles are so sore on my affected side, is this also a good or bad thing. Thank you for your time! I just need answers and you seem to have a lot of knowledge on this topic!!!
@CrystalTouchClinic

Hello Brittany, Sensations such as twitching, vibrations, itching, etc are the signs that your movements are returning (the facial nerve begins to reconnect with the facial muscles). Little by little you should start seeing more activity in your facial muscles. As a side effect, you are also experiencing some contractures (pains) in your facial muscles. It is important for you to try not to over-tense your muscles, as you might be excited to see first movements and you might start forcing them. Keep your face relaxed, do gentle massage and be patient. I could advise you to look through our Bell's Palsy Knowledge Base - crystal-touch.nl/bells-palsy-knowledge-base/ - so you can understand better what you are going through at the moment and why you are experiencing these sensations. Consider our Video Courses that were created exactly for this purpose - to share our extensive knowledge on facial palsy. I went to the neurologist for my Bell’s palsy after being at the emergency room to rule out tumor & stroke & he did nothing said just wait & see what happens nothing you can do. Taking care of your eye 👁️ is one of the most important things. Not eating foods you can choke on is also a big thing. I got Bell’s palsy after trimalleolar ankle surgery.

2 years passed. And my face just getting worse and worse with synkinesis. Getting more asymmetric. Because of asymmetric movement and muscles look so asymmetric as well. Sorry if I say I am panicking. Of course because retraining is not working for me, my brain can not learn new things. I have severe synkinesis and not getting any better. So you can start panicking if your face doesn't start recovering soon after the damage. As you must to live as a monster in all of your life.

Ur body needs time huh well I had mine since 2012 😫. 2 days b4 really realizing something was wrong my eye was jumping for two days straight, the third day I woke up went to brush my teeth put water in my mouth and it just poured out my mouth while I "had my mouth closed" so I thought, so I looked in the mirror and I seen my face jupin I immediately went to urgent care where I was given a steroids shot eye drops and a eye patch that I wore for a week that assisted in my eye finally closing but even with the years that past I can't move my right side 😞.

I still don't like to take my pictures because my left eye is drooping and my smile is still uneven. I am a happy person and i don't blame the good Lord about my situation, but sometimes i feel sad. I have known persons who had this sickness that happened the same time as me and they are now recovered. Will i recover fully even if my paralysis is now 5 years long?

To say a more specific prognosis for your recovery, we need to take a look at your condition and know more details about the history of your Bell's palsy. Without it, it is simply impossible to say anything for certain, because each case is very different. That is why there is no one-size-fits-all solution for Bell's palsy. What I can say, is that in general, according to our experience, it is possible to improve your condition, even 5 or more years after. It depends on the severity of the damage that happened to your facial nerve. In most scenarios, it will not come back 100% to how it used to be, but there can be big improvements, also in your own confidence and self-appreciation. In the end, our patients return their happiness of living and do not see their residuals and complications after Bell's palsy as something that would affect their lives. Still, for any improvements, you need to work hard. Nothing will happen if you just sit and wait. If you would like to have a professional analysis of what is possible in your situation, receive answers to all of your questions about Bell's palsy and some advice on what you can do even without rehabilitation, you can book a video diagnostic session with our specialist, Alex Pashov. More information about this you will find on our website: crystal-touch.nl/online-bells-palsy-diagnostic-session/

I have had bell’s palsy for a little over 2 months now, with no apparent cause. When it happened I lost 100% of my right side movement within 24 hours, and have not had much improved ever since. My doctors told me that it should be gone after two weeks, and prescribed me with cortisone and b12 vitamins, but it is still here. My eye has gotten a bit better, I can close it almost all the way but the rest of my face is still not showing any signs of recovery. I have started doing physical therapy including electric stimulation treatment, and taking my b12 vitamins 3 times a day. At first I had a very positive attitude about it, but now as time goes by and I see no progress I am starting to get very depressed. I don’t want to leave home and right now it feels like I am going to stay like this forever. I am 21 and it is the first time this has ever happened to me, do you think that it can still get better and recover? I also would like to say that your video has been very helpful and is giving me hope!
@CrystalTouchClinic

Don't worry, it can, and it will get better. As explained in the video, if the recovery doesn't occur within the first few weeks, that means that the damage to your facial nerve has been more severe, and the recovery might take longer, up to 3-4 months (in rare cases it can take even longer). I would like to note, however, that if the recovery is long, you may have a higher probability of developing some residuals or complications. But again, in our experience, if they do occur, it is possible to work on them and improve. Our general advice to our patients is to try to avoid forcing your facial muscles into facial expressions (doing physical therapy), as we noticed it might increase your chances of developing contractures or synkinesis. We also suggest avoiding electrical stimulation, as there have been studies linking it to development of synkinesis. In our experience, keeping your face relaxed as much as possible, and staying calm are the best tools during your recovery. There is unfortunately no magic pill or exercise that can help your facial nerve to recover. There is also no medication that can affect the recovery directly. Your body's natural resources and regenerative capacity is the only remedy that recovers your facial nerve. For an optimum recovery, your body needs plenty of resources. So a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and rest can be helpful. You should try avoiding stress, as it takes away resources of your body. I understand that it can be very difficult, emotionally, to accept and process what is happening to you. You condition will get better. You are still in the beginning stages of your recovery. Educating yourself about Bell's palsy can help you understand better what you are going through. We have published many articles on our website for this purpose: crystal-touch.nl/bells-palsy-knowledge-base/ And if you would like to speak directly with our specialists and receive more answers to your questions, explanations and advice, consider registering for an online diagnostic session/consultation: crystal-touch.nl/online-bells-palsy-diagnostic-session/

Is it normal for Bell’s palsy to come with a terrible headache? I got Bell’s palsy on March 3, 2021 and hadn’t recovered completely when I got it again 😢 sadly the doctors down here South Texas haven’t really helped me at all. I’ve taken all kinds of medication but nothing has worked. I’m waiting for the doctor to send me to get an MRI done to check my brain.

It depends on the cause of Bell's palsy. In general, Bell's palsy can occur without any pains or discomforts prior to it. Sometimes, if a facial palsy is caused by an infection in an ear, there can be pains in the ear. It is possible, that what caused your headache also caused your Bell's palsy. Bell's palsy is often a result of compression in the area behind your ear. If there was swelling that also pressed on your trigeminal nerve, that could had caused the headache. As you have a second bout of Bell's palsy, there could be more possibilities to the origins of your Bell's palsy. The best is indeed to consult with your doctor and have an MRI scan. We would need to have more details to be able to establish if your headache and Bell's palsy are connected. Please feel free to contact us further via info@crystal-touch.nl or register for an online diagnostic session after your visit to the doctor, if you would like a more specific analysis of your Bell's palsy. Get well!

I just gave birth to my first baby 8 days ago, and three days after birth I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy (left side) and postpartum hyper-tension. My blood pressure seems to be doing a bit better, and I am taking both prednisone and an anti-viral for the Bell’s palsy. Having a new baby at home and trying to get the rest needed to recover, especially since I’m breastfeeding, has been very difficult even with the support of family. I know Bell’s palsy is more common in pregnant/post-Parton people, and am just wondering if you have any other knowledge to share about post-partum Bell’s palsy? I’m also wondering if it’s a problem to sleep on my left side? Is that going to slow the healing or damage the nerve more? Thank you for this video. I am going to try to take all of your advice as best as I can, and I really appreciate the message to not panic and despair, as this is already such a hard period in my life and all I want to do is be able to smile at my baby.
@CrystalTouchClinic
2 жыл бұрын
Dear Hannah, thank you for reaching out. Having a newborn and Bell's palsy can indeed be incredibly stressful and difficult. We wish you strength with that. As mentioned in the video, please do not despair. Recovery will happen. Take it one day at a time, and remember that recovery needs time. So don't be discouraged if you don't see improvements fast. I know it's much easier to say than do, but you need to stay strong and positive, as stress can lead to more problems in post-partum. Generally, the Bell's palsy follows a similar recovery process in both post-partum and standard cases. There is a possibility that the recovery in post-partum might take a little longer, as your body needs to allocate its resources to recover your whole body, not only the facial nerve. Not to mention the lack of sleep you experience with the newborn, that becomes an additional strain for your body. Make sure you get as much rest as possible, with the support of your family, to help your body recover. Follow a healthy diet and listen to your body. As for sleeping on the affected side, it should not have any impact on your recovery. The best advisor here is your own body - if you feel pain or discomfort when you sleep on the affected side, then it is better to avoid it. Please take a look at this article: crystal-touch.nl/is-it-better-to-sleep-on-the-affected-side-of-the-face-after-facial-palsy/ Please rest assured that in over 70% of Bell's palsy cases (that statistics includes cases of post-partum Bell's palsy), the recovery is full. And please remember that in the unlikely case that your recovery may take longer, and you might develop some complications and residuals, it is still not a life sentence. Complications and residuals can be worked on and reduced, and we have over 10 years of experience and our rehabilitation program to make sure that you will be able to smile happily to your baby whatever the outcome will be. For now, follow the advice from the video, read through the Knowledge Base of our website, and if you will have any questions or concerns, please send us a message at info@crystal-touch.nl, and we will be happy to speak with you.

Hello, to be able to answer your question with certainty we need to analyze your current condition: take a look at your current recovery, see what complications you have and how your facial muscles are functioning. Your age is not an issue in the recovery, we had patients who are older than you, and they were able to achieve improvements. What matters is your motivation - to be ready to work every day to achieve improvements. But to say what your recovery possibilities are, we need to take a look at your face. If you are interested to perform the analysis, you can register here: crystal-touch.nl/online-facial-palsy-analysis/

So why isn’t doing the exercises helpful? When athletes have injuries and their muscles are weak they do exercises to strengthen their muscles. isn’t it the same thing or what’s the difference I am on weak 5 and I just found this video. I have been doing exercises but it has been a slow recovery but I do see a little progress (which after watching this video I am not sure if the exercises helped or it was just my body working on its own). Still I am not sure if I worsened it by doing exercises or if I made it better.
@CrystalTouchClinic
8 ай бұрын
That's a good question. Indeed, when a muscle in our body is weak or injured, doing specific exercises can help to recover it. However, in facial palsy (also Bell's palsy and Ramsay Hunt Syndrome), muscles are not injured or impaired in any way. The facial paralysis does not affect muscles. It affects the facial nerve. If an athlete were to injure a nerve instead of a muscle, the recovery would not consist only of exercises. First, it would consist of a recovery period, during which the athlete would be put on rest, and would not be allowed to use the injured area, until the nerve recovers and becomes able to contract and relax the muscle affected again. After which, very specific and well crafted rehabilitation exercises will be given to the athlete to further improve the recovery of the nerve and bring the strength back to the muscle lost during the recovery period during which the athlete cannot use the muscles affected. There will possibly be a lot of other recovery and rehabilitation techniques involved in order to help the athlete recover the damaged nerve. Another important distinction to consider, is that our nerves around our facial muscles are a lot (and I mean significantly a lot) more differentiated and nuances that in other parts of our body. While the nerves in our arms or legs are responsible for contracting big muscles and muscle groups, the nerves in our face are made to contract single muscle fibers, so we could produce extremely finely tuned expressions and communicate using our face. And to answer your question, during the acute phase we do no recommend doing exercises for the same reasons an athlete would not be allowed to use the affected muscle while the nerve is recovering. At best - it would have no effect because the nerve is disconnected from the muscle fibres and cannot contract or relax the muscles. There is a possibility it can affect the complications that may develop at later stages. It does not affect the recovery process, so you did not make it worse. From now, focus on relaxation and gentle massages instead. Be patient. I hope this helps to answer your question. If you need more clarification, please feel free to contact us at info@crystal-touch.nl
