Also, when my sons were young, on Sunday, I would take an entire loaf of bread and eggs and milk and make the entire loaf in the French toast. Put it back in the plastic sleeve and put it in the freezer then throughout the week they could just take a piece and put it in the toaster and have French toast then.

Many people are lucky enough to have gas cooktops we can turn on with a lighter if the power is out. I’m going to practice learning how to bake on it using a large Dutch oven or pot with a lid. In particular bread. I think all you do is heat the Dutch oven then elevate the loaf pan with a rack or rocks, put the lid on, then bake. I’m going to try heating up a frozen casserole too and brownies. Things to lift spirits when power is out. Cross your fingers

Love my 22" blackstone griddle with the top lid. Can make anything in it! Philly cheese steak sandwiches with sautéed onions and peppers and lay you cheese in top while you are toasting your buns in the griddle. When I cook bacon I fry 3 pounds at once and freeze what we don't eat. Eggs, over easy, hard or scrambled. Steaks, thin cheese burgers (smash burgers) take the bacon press and a piece of wax paper and squish that burger out, street taco's. The griddle is without limits. Blackstone betty is wonderful to watch also.

That's a "Big Tex" spatula. You should also get an 8" x 3" short handle with ROUNDED corners. They are thinner and lighter, and I'm sure you will enjoy it more. Do you season that kind of grill like cast iron? I've only ever used the big commercial grills and those are clean d with oil and a grill stone, which is a big block of pumice. They are cleaned while HOT and one of the first things you learn is to be very careful when pushing the block up against the back splash because you will splash hot oil up onto your hand. The thing about the school of hard knocks/ learning things the hard way is that you never forget them, lol. That lesson was in 1975 and I am still very cognizant of it. My bff is moving a1000 miles away, and she is selling her flat top grill. I think you have made me decide to buy it!

Another terrific video! But I’ve got a wonderful tip for you in how you can make flat bacon indoors in its by placing it on a sheet pan BUT you don’t lay the strips out flat instead you fold them in half and then when you put it in the oven at 400F you don’t preheat the oven so that allows the bacon fat to melt as the oven heats up and in 40mins it’s done and lovely and crispy and you’ll be amazed at how wonderfully it works! We always use parchment paper on the pan and then it makes it super easy to collect all that beautiful bacon fat after it has fully rendered on the pan and we use a filtered stainless steel mesh strainer and we get lovely white bacon fat that I use in all kinds of cooking! I highly recommend giving it a try. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦

I buy bacon on sale and sometimes in bulk. I have found it easy to cook in on foil lined jelly roll pans in the oven. I line it all up as close as possible without touching and bake it at 375 until it's crispy. I drain on paper towel lined paper bags and when cool I store in ziplock freezer bags in the freezer. If you are cooking more than two pans worth, pour off the grease in between and the bacon also is nice and flat. It's easy to clean it all up the pans because the foil and the bacon slices are ready to go any time you want some for breakfast or a salad.

We make savory pancakes with whatever is handy or leftover. Taco pancakes, all the vegetables with any kind of finely chopped meat that’s in the fridge, chow mein pancakes, even split pea soup pancakes. If you have dehydrated or freeze-dried things in the pantry, try rehydrating and stirring them into pancake batter. The grandkids also like them cold so I usually keep a Tupperware container full in the frig for instant snacks. The same is true for grilled sandwiches. They don’t have to be cheese anymore! Grilled peanut butter and jelly is awesome. We all like grilled pineapple, canned peaches, etc. for dessert. Sometimes I sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the fruit. This is a helpful series.

I recently went on Weight Watchers diet because my liver enzyme numbers were off and doctor wanted to get a fiber reading of my liver and couldn’t due to my weight. Well it scared me and I went on diet. I lost 45 pounds and it was difficult but I stuck with it. It took me all year but I did it and there are no restrictions as it works on a point system. All food has a point value you figure what you are eating that day based on the points there are no restrictions.], just know once you reach your point limits the only thing left to eat are zero point foods. That is some fruit and some vegetables. I feel better can bend and stretch and do things that were getting difficult. My doctors are thrilled, my blood numbers are back to normal and I am happy. I just want to spread the joy…I am 77.

I've found that the best way to cook bacon is in the oven. That's how most restaurants do it. You don't get splattered, nor does it splatter your oven, and all of the fat cooks out and gets nice and crispy and the pieces remain flat. I pour the fat into a pyrex dish and use it when I make scrambled eggs. I, too, cook the whole pound and then use the leftovers in BLTs or reheated for breakfast as you said. I learned this trick from Allrecipes. I saw that there was a recipe for bacon, and I remember scoffing, "Who doesn't know how to cook bacon? Do you really need a recipe?" Well, it turns out, I did! I had always used a frying pan--never again! I place it on a sheet pan, bake it at 350 degrees for however long it takes: 15-25 minutes, but I don't have to hover over it and every surface is no longer hazed with fat spatter. I love the idea of maple syrup in the custard! If I ever have leftover, I gently pour little some onto the uncooked sides of bread before they've been flipped in the griddle.

Thanks for the information on bacon cooking. It also depends on the equipment and setting/location: On-grid (oven/regular stove) or off-grid (campfire, rocket stove, flat top--propane, or butane stove). As far as a bacon recipe--it depends on what want to do with it--I have seen people fry eggs, bacon, sliced potatoes, and boil grits, and then mix all of the items together for breakfast. For them it was fabulous. Yes, I mentioned how restaurants cook their bacon in the ovens a day or two ago. I was introduced to oven-bacon-cooking in 1969 when I worked in a high-end restaurant in Santa Monica making $2.00 an hour and the head chef (who had been there for 10 years) was making $2.50 an hour. We appreciate you watching our channel. Jim

I have my mom and dad’s wood cook stove they purchased in 1946 right before I was born they had moved into the new house they built. I want my husband to refurbish it and make us an out door kitchen or a kitchen like the old plantation homes use to have. LOL, Everything in life is better with bacon! I've done dehydrated eggs combined with garden veggies for a flatgriddle omlet. It's also easy to make tortillas in lieu of bread for a quick fix. Everyone loves pizza and with a hardtop you can make a thin crust pizza - which is food storage comfort food. IMHO, that table is a bit high for you cooking on the flattop. A few inches shorter would be better. We have our kitchen set up for my height but then we have concrete pavers that hubby can set the flat top on to rise it for his 6' tall frame (whenever he might decide to cook).

Low carb veggies are also fine to add to your diet (leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower and peppers, for example). 14 months ago, I began eating this way and have lost 85 pounds so far (another 35 to go) and was able to get off of blood pressure medication. Take care and God Bless.

We cook our bacon in the air pot. No curling and it cooks perfect, crispy.

My husband bakes bacon in the oven about once a week. It's a great way to do a pound at a time to have it available all week.

Works for me: I have heard about fast food chains that use ovens bake bacon. Jim

We are also retired, but we want to live a healthy lifestyle, so we watch what we eat, we don’t eat pork or bacon. We don’t want to clog our arteries, or brain arteries either. We consume more vegetables and homemade grown organic foods. We avoid processed toxic foods which causes inflammation and arthritic diseases. I used to have skin eczema and inflammation arthritis of my fingers. I did a diet detox consuming only fresh fruit smoothies, drinking lots of homemade watermelon juices, lemonade and homemade apple juice to flush out toxins. I consumed lots of high antioxidants and high fiber salads full of legumes. Believe me during an entire summer I lost mad weight and my skin eczema and inflammation arthritis cleared up completely. Now that I retired to Puerto Rico, we are really living the life.

Hi guys. That looked yummy. I haven't had French toast in some time. It's probably because eggs are so pricey. So, thank you for the video. Love your new what's it called? Flat top grill. Take care

Depending on where I shop the price of eggs has dropped 2/3 and 3/4 of where they were earlier in the year. Thanks for watching our channel. Yes, some people call it a flat top. Jim
