Great video and thank you! For those who are IDIOTS like me... BEFORE you get started you will want to run the cords from the new power button THROUGH the PCI slot FIRST before you start connecting. Otherwise you'll have to unplug each of the connections you just made (or in my case there were fewer connected to the system, so I unplugged those two) and then reconnect them after running the connection through the slot. The PCI bracket that comes with this particular power button also doesn't fit my HP computer (it's got folded edges, not flat unlike what's fitted to it now, so I just left it off and ran the cable through the open slot).

Thank u. I got my full cabinet set up with your system and I hated I would have to go to the back to cut it on.

Thank bro, I had those error messages on my Dell PC. Didn’t know you had to simply change the pins on the harness. Time to rewire.

Is it better to do it this way or to use the BIOS and use the option to allow restart after power failure. Then turn on the switch to a switched outlet in some various way. Honest question cause one may be better or safer for long term use.

What i did was simply plug the PC to an external power strip and then wire that to an ON OFF Switch that was mounted to the exterior of the cabinet. I went inside the BIOS and set it to turn on when power is applied. That way, all I have to do is flip the on off switch on the back of the arcade cab and it sends power to the power strip, which then sends power to the PC which then turns the PC on based on the BIOS Setting I applied. I then do a safe shut off of the PC and walk around back and flip the switch to turn everything off. Super simple

I'm trying to understand if there is a benefit to connecting to the motherboard

This is just an extension of the built in power button, it’s no different than pressing the real power button in the front of the PC. It’s cleaner than the other method mentioned. You can use a smart power strip, connect the PC as master and all other devices as slave, press this external power button and everything turns on. Shutdown through Hyperspin and everything turns off.
