👉🏽On this third episode - Day 3, …we leave Kodachrome State Park and drive directly to Bryce Canyon National Park in the Adventure-van.
We arrive to a cold, snowy, & windy Bryce Canyon and after visiting the visitor's center to learn the one campground is full (other campgrounds were closed). We decide to drive back into Bryce Canyon City to secure a camp spot in the Ruby's Inn campground.
After securing our camp spot for the next two days, we travel back into the National Park to experience Bryce Canyon.
We can't really describe seeing this natural wonder in-person, as it is indescribable. One just has to experience it... and the only word we can use to describe it as, AMAZING ...!
We immediately decide to hike down into the canyon on the Navajo Loop Trail and are awe-inspired by the hoodoos.
HOODOOS - are tall, slender rock spires that stand like sentinels in the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater, showcasing vibrant red, orange, and white layers. These striking pinnacles are uniquely shaped; some even resemble people, animals, or other forms.
We also found out that Bryce canyon isn't necessarily a canyon, but an amphitheater located on the edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau.
A legend of the Paiute Indians, who inhabited the area for hundreds of years before the arrival of European Americans, claims the colorful hoodoos are ancient "Legend People" who were turned to stone as punishment for bad deeds.
The word “hoodoo” means to bewitch, which is what Bryce Canyon’s rock formations are bewitching!
After driving the park and stopping at every overlook and catching the sunset at Sunset Point, we return to just outside of the park to Bryce Canyon City & our Ruby's Inn campsite.
Stay tuned for the next episode….! We stay in Bryce Canyon National Park on a "SNOWY" Day 4 for a longer day-hike into the the backcountry among the ancient hoodoos, out of this world rock formations, & Ponderosa pines.
Follow along on this Adventure Date to find out, as we travel around southern Utah for our 15th year wedding anniversary visiting Kodachrome State Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Kanab, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Zion National Park, Valley of Fire State Park, Las Vegas, and many other attraction-stops along the journey !
🧐 SPOILER ALERT 👉🏽The highlight of trip is that we get the opportunity to hike Angels Landing, one of the most dangerous treks in the USA. So dangerous that the National Park Service has to limit the quantity of people that do it to keep people from falling 1,000s of feet to their demise !
The views, experience, & fun… only GET BETTER as we continue on our Adventure Date Utah !
See y'all soon,
Joy & Jeff
