@SwollenCranium Find a DS helmet that looks badass with the visor removed and simply pull it off when riding sport. Bolt it back on for DS rides. You will still get some additional pull when checking left/right due to the longer chinbar, but the peaks seem to cause the biggest issues and those can easily be eliminated. - jc

A comparison on wind drag at speed would be interesting. I've owned the Icon Variant Construct for two years and really love the helmet! At highway speeds (and above :-) ) I can comfortably peek over my shoulder without getting my head snapped around! I personally think the optics are awesome, never had any issues with distortion on my clear and mirror finish shields, (although it's a bit of a pain to swap them out). Thanks for the Videos MS !!

Hey, Christopher Elrod. We'll add it to the list! I won't have the same level of personal experience with those models, but we can certainly show them side-by-side and hit the comparisons. I'd like to do a lot more of these Shootouts if they are something viewers enjoy, so keep the comments coming! - jc

Why didn't you include the Suomy?
@motorcyclesuperstore
10 жыл бұрын
There it is! No shootout is complete without the obligatory "why wasn't this included?" I chose to leave the Suomy out because it isn't nearly as popular as the rest and I wanted to focus on our best-sellers. I also don't have any personal experience with it and I wanted that to be a consistent factor in the presentation. If that was the helmet you were most interested in, I apologize for the omission! Generally speaking, we don't have any hard and fast rules for our shootouts. They are going to be a blend of products based on any number of criteria including keeping videos to a manageable length and, perhaps most importantly, personal whim ;-) - jc

Thanks for the response. I appreciate that you can't do them all, but the Suomy is the only one that fits my weird long oval head, so I was momentarily excited when I thought I was going to see a hands-on review of it.

Great review. Informative and objective. I think the agv would be my pick I would like to compare more brands before I buy though.. There are some very light helmets around and all these seem a little heafty.. As I wear ear plugs I don't mind light, noisy helmets.

I also would like to see a sub-250 dollar review. I'm sure a lot of folks are like me and don't spend hours of street riding on our dual sport bikes. But, do have the occasion of hitting 60 mph stretches to get to our riding location. I enjoyed the review. It's great to actually get a real-world unbiased review!

Refreshing to not have products forced down my throat *cough*cyclecruza*cough* That AGV wins with 4 vs Arai with 4 when you add in the price of both units. And it's got the look, best looking helmets I've seen, pity there's no mirrored visors! Thanks for the informative video that let me make up my own mind, well done guy.

Yeah good review bloke. I did like the subjectivity coming from owning/using all helmets and the “tick” system on completion to summarise your findings. Well delivered with brevity and succinctness.

I understand that this video is rather old, but is like to hear about most levels with these helmets as well. For longer trips noise can be a major factor is helmet choice.

Great vid, just about the right depth of information to give new bikers a 'heads up'. I've just bought an Arai Tour X4, which does exactly what you have just described (comfort, venting, vision, etc.). I also tried on the AGV, as I thought this was also an awesome looking helmet. However, the AGV felt a bit too light and 'flimsy', and also build quality didn't seem too great. Again, you were totally right about the AGV's lower 'angular' visor profile, which does actually distort the light/vision and this is distracting - well worth considering this potentially problematic safety issue. I also tried on a Shoei, which felt almost as good as the Arai, however, again, you were right about the visor not feeling 'fully home' when in its lowest position (is this a quality issue, perhaps?). I can't vouch for the Icon, as my local bike shop didn't stock this make. I suppose I would probably (personally) list them in order as Arai 1st, Shoei 2nd and AGV 3rd. I hope this helps - but please go to your local dealer and TRY them on, don't just buy one off ebay because it 'looks cool'! You might just live to regret it...

Could you tell me, if an Arai XD4(XL) will fit into a GIVI V46 please?
@motorcyclesuperstore
9 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff Lee. The V46 is designed to accommodate two full-face helmets. I don't have a case on hand to test out, but I don't see any reason the XD4 wouldn't fit. Even if the visor creates an issue when upright, it should be able to lay on one side without any trouble. - jc
