There are many very intellectual, good rappers, they are just less popular than the "gunz 'n hoes" garbage on the radio. My favorite is Atmosphere. Very complex lyrics, takes some thinking to understand the poetic meaning. I like about 40% of their songs (which is a lot for me), but not a lot of their early stuff. Their album Southsiders is fantastic. And if you want to try something completely different, check out Gangstagrass, a rap/bluegrass group.

While listening to the song and reading the lyrics, I had this visual of a young person whose bitterness with the world turns to physical violence, and the song is about them slowly being eaten away by their vicious side. They hate it and hate themselves. But at the end of the song (the fading "I'm trying to help!") they realize that their angry vicious rage is actually their way of protecting themselves against the unnecessary unfairness of the world, and that a beaten dog will always show its teeth. Just thought I'd share in case it strikes anyone's fancy.

Literary elites love to rep Shakespeare’s vocabulary: across his entire corpus, he uses 28,829 words, suggesting he knew over 100,000 words and arguably had the largest vocabulary, ever. I decided to compare this data point against the most famous artists in hip hop. I used each artist’s first 35,000 lyrics. That way, prolific artists, such as Jay-Z, could be compared to newer artists, such as Drake. 5,000 words covers 3-5 studio albums and EPs. I included mixtapes if the artist was just short of the 35,000 words. Quite a few rappers don’t have enough official material to be included (e.g., Biggie, Kendrick Lamar). As a benchmark, I included data points for Shakespeare and Herman Melville, using the same approach (35,000 words across several plays for Shakespeare, first 35,000 of Moby Dick). I used a research methodology called token analysis to determine each artist’s vocabulary. Each word is counted once, so pimps, pimp, pimping, and pimpin are four unique words. To avoid issues with apostrophes (e.g., pimpin’ vs. pimpin), they’re removed from the dataset. It still isn’t perfect. Hip hop is full of slang that is hard to transcribe (e.g., shorty vs. shawty), compound words (e.g., king shit), featured vocalists, and repetitive choruses. It’s still directionally interesting. Of the 85 artists in the data set, let’s take a look at who is on top. Credit: Matt Daniels.

theres a mistake in the provided lyrics though. "N.Y. chew through the machine " should be : " And march him through the machine", I might be wrong about this but I´m pretty sure...

@Suzuki Yeah I read that. But it always registered different for me. after repeating the verse about 20 times again I concede that I was mistaken ^^

personal song interpretation (closer than some-a yalls): He's trapped in his lane, trapped in his ways. he will always stay this distance from fame. he refuse to relay and refuse to relate so there's only one way to cull his hate: trade it in for the thought that he is one of the greats faded in a limelight where all the others are straight, he"s a-- hungry caterpillar when there's too much on they plate ain't first ain't last his dignity will win this race, cuz it's--

Hi boys. Getting ready for battle, and I remembered this phrase and knew it was in a song somewhere. So I typed in the latest page of my diary here. ( Thought of the day ) Basically, the majority (?? of evil ?? ) are saying that I've got no brains, and that I've made myself the fall guy. And I don't know what fall guy means, but to me it sounds like you take the fall for the team. And that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm letting Becky and the stallions go past, and then I'm going to turn round, and stand there, and watch the hordes approach, and say, 'NONE SHALL PASS'. And I'm going to watch them get closer and closer, and guess what. NONE shall pass. I'm going to take the lot on, because I've done it before, and know I can do it again. And I might cry tears when the battle starts. Because none shall pass, and I've stayed behind to make sure.

PHAROAH so have you ever wondered how they keep the rats out of the mailboxes???? like when you lick a stamp or an envelope do you think how many of these would I have to take the glue off to get high???? like what do you cut a stamp or an envelope with........ like how many envelopes and stamps would it take to keep my house germ free??? or give me the energy to like clean up and stuff....... this one time i heard a strange scampering and couldn't find my bible...... so I like got some liquor store fliers and clutched them against my body like there was no tomorrow ........ and what ever it was did not attack me in my sleep..... almost an entirely true story ........ except I personally have never made a whole newspaper the size of a pinky nail..... or a million zigzag rolling paper worth 10 dollars ......

Way too late to reply, but I had a need to revisit this song and scrolled through the comments. Its a reference to an 80's movie called Funhouse which is why its followed up with a LOTR reference.

+DannyIgnite I'm British; as far as I'm aware, we don't have spelling bees. In contrast, the fact that you are so perturbed by the prospect of a negligible display of linguistic prowess, or general propensity for erudite expression, seems to indicate all that anyone could really want to know about you.
