The former president reportedly clashed repeatedly with Pentagon officials over his exit orders, and before leaving office Trump set a deadline of full American withdrawal by May 1, 2021, one he later tried to move forwards to December 2020. Some observers have blamed Trump, rather than Biden, for sending a signal to the Taliban that American forces would leave Afghanistan regardless of the outcome of peace talks with the U.S.-backed government in Kabul. Trump has also faced criticism for his administration's role in releasing thousands of Taliban prisoners before and during U.S.-Taliban peace talks. Among those released ahead of the peace talks in Doha was Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, arrested by the U.S. in 2010 and imprisoned in Pakistan. Baradar has now returned to Kabul to help set up the Taliban's new government. The last administration sent such a clear signal that there has to be an American withdrawal The Taliban, who are patient people, waited 20 years for this opportunity. They were certainly capable of waiting a few more months, which is all it seemed to them to require once the signal had been sent that the Americans were leaving.

If it took a long time, it would have gave the US time to go BACK to Afghanistan and start doing normal deployment rotations again. Now...its over. The Taliban won. They won a shit country. They can have it. No one left in their country to harass. Now, as long as the Gulf nations can finally stop paying the Taliban and ISIS to not attack them, we can officially move on. Regarding the whole justification for U.S intervention, Joe says there's some level of atrocities where we have to intervene like WW2 with nazi Germany. However, the U.S did not enter WW2 and attack the Germans because of what the nazis were doing to Jews. Germany declared war on the U.S after Pearl Harbor. @Миодраг Здравковћ My guy, nobody said Russia and China were not involved in or did not lose people in WW2. (Unless someone deleted a comment that I didn't see. In which case they were wrong.) However, your statement that the U.S. "did nothing" is blatantly false. Was the U.S. the only liberator of Jews? Hell no. But neither was it solely any other country. It was a group effort. I'll make no comment on how many soldiers and assets Japan lost in their conflict with China, however, I would not call those losses their defeat. I would call the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, coupled with the USSR agreeing to join in the fight against Japan, what caused the Japanese to surrender. As for the loss of lives, I would highly suggest against making any statements trivializing the attempted genocide of the Jewish people in the face of wartime casualties (soldiers lost in combat, civilians lost to military action, and civilians lost to disease or famine.) It's not a good look.

@Миодраг Здравковћ buddy, you're deviated off what I initially said. But yes, millions of Russians and Chinese died. The Allies would not have won the war if it wasn't for the great sacrifices of the Russia people, there is no denying that. However, the U.S didn't join the war because of Russia and how many people were dying. My point is that Joe made it seem the U.S joined the war to stop atrocities and I'm saying we didn't. Also, America did help supply Russia during ww2 and ya know created a whole second front in Europe, which did help Russia. So that's not nothing.

To respond to why China is okay with leaving North Korea in its current state (here's at least one reason): Yeonmi Park has talked about how China's one child policy has led to a disproportionate population of unwed young men, and there is a massive human trafficking operation bringing women from North Korea to marry them. Yeonmi was a part of this trafficking and says that the Chinese government completely turns a blind eye to it because it helps "correct" their mistake.

Yes and no, we were backed in a corner. 2 viable options, we decided to place our fate in the afghan govt and president. They were supposed to fight and protect the people in their country.
