Last week I ran 3 min and could barely breathe even after taking two hits of my inhaler. Listening to Goggins talk motivated me to learn how to breathe properly while running with asthma (I used to smoke for 14 years so my lung capacity is also bad). My goal was to run 1km even if I had to walk some of it. I ran straight through. Hit 1 km and kept going. Ended up going over a mile and only stopped to pick up my cat from the vet. Didn't even need my inhaler. I could f********* breathe. I've never been able to run more than a half mile without almost having an asthma attack. I signed up for a 7 km night rucking race in August because I know my body is capable of way more than I anticipated. By the end of this month I will be able able to go at least 2 miles straight. Shooting for 3. STAY HARD

When I first started I told myself I’d swim once a week to justify having a membership... That same week I found Goggins content and it was about having a to do list. On my list it says: go swim. So that’s what I do now, every time I get the opportunity. I calculated to & from + swim time + washing the salt out of my hair = 2 hours 50 min), if I have that much time I get into the car and go. I average 5-6 days a week and the results are addictive. The alone time is very nice too.

Genuinely interested, I see you have a pfp and I’m assuming you’re a woman. How do you take the hard language from Goggins? From what I know mostly guys are the ones motivated by harsh words and reality. Genuinely want to know
@riledmouse4677
3 ай бұрын
@@Alex-ns6hj you assume correctly! I am a woman. Umm, that’s a good question. I think I’ve trained myself, over the years, to listen to the meaning behind harsh words and to recognize that the speaker has a genuinely caring intention when they take the time to point out where I’m going wrong. I used to have a knee-jerk reaction, where I would take things personally and get defensive, but eventually I started to seek out the wisdom behind the words. The fact is that, left to my own devices, I *do* often need a kick in the butt; I *can* be soft, and usually I can’t see the ways I’m off-base until someone proverbially slaps me upside the head and wakes me up. At this stage, I intentionally choose to work with bosses who don’t mince their words and aren’t afraid to offend me, because now I find that style to be a lot more honest, less frustrating, more productive, and easier to learn from than people who are trying to tiptoe around everyone’s feelings all the time. It was a hard road to get here, though - I’m naturally very sensitive and I care way too much what people think of me. Listening to Patrice O’Neal’s standup comedy was a good way to jump into the deep end of the pool and learn how to face harsh truths. Anyhow. Thanks for asking and for reading through my ramble! I’d love to know any thoughts you have on the subject, too.
