We open with this first video a new section of our channel dedicated to 'SPARRING AND SPARRING EXERCISES IN AIKIDO'.
The aim of these videos is to show the possibilities that Aikido has, not to fight or fight sportingly, but to NEUTRALIZE as quickly as possible the combined attacks of an aggressor who not only launches a single attack, but combines different attacks of fist, kicks, attempts to knock down, etc.; all feinting, feinting and pressuring the defender.
This practice is but an adaptation or evolution of a more classic and fully extended methodology in Aikido called 'Jiyuwaza' or defense against free attacks, although in the daily training that we do in our School we maintain both the classic 'Jiyuwaza' to strengthen the movements and basic techniques along with a free defense also against modern and current attacks, as will be shown in successive videos.
And is that if we want to maintain the martial of Aikido and consider it as modern Budo, it must be able to meet and respond to the current challenges and the different forms of attack today, also demonstrating that one can harmonize (or at least try) against the successive committed by an elusive or trained aggressor, but without making use in our defense of brute force or extreme violence for that purpose.
Best regards and good practice 😉.
