@@etwanican_7439 There’s toxic leadership in every branch so don’t get caught up in that. Members of all branches of the service complain about their own branch frequently. The living conditions if your single and living in the barracks do suck because the Marines have the least funding. If your married you obviously don’t have to worry about that because you’ll be living off base in your own place. I had many ups and downs but have no regrets on joining. @@morgansims3631 For me, joining the military was is the best decision I made versus going to college. There’s no age limit to college and you can do it at any point in your life, but there are age restrictions for the military. I’m using my G.I. bill now to go to school while working full-time. If I never join the military, I wouldn’t have had my VA loan which allowed me and my wife to buy our first house at 23 years old with no down payment to start raising our family. My biggest advice is to pick the right job/MOS. If I would’ve chose a job that I enjoyed more, I would probably still be in the Marine Corps now. I love aviation and always wanted to fly but joined the Marine Corps as an aircraft mechanic instead of doing something like Aircrew which would have actually allowed me to fly and live my dream. But I was young and stupid at 17 years old and let the swim qual requirements for aircrew steer me away. Stick with your guns and do the job that you actually want to do and don’t settle. I still had an amazing career though and accomplished so many things that helped set me up.

These recruiters always trap these young inexperienced fellows by selling them some hot sales pitch.

People if the Air Force recruiter door is locked, come another day and save yourself from joining the Crayola Branch.

I joined the Army and turns out my brigade had fixed-wing aircraft anyway, so double win.

The amount of stories on KZitem I seen where the other door was locked and the marine corps recruiter came out are getting real coincidental

It wasn’t locked. It was the first test to see if you’re smart enough to open a door.

Same thing happened to me, Air Force office was locked, took the Asvab with the Marines and got a 93 with near perfect scores in Mechanical. Best job they could offer me was Radar tech or something like that. I wanted UAV operator, wouldn't give it to me because of availability, so I went Navy and they gave me Machinist Mate submarines. I make more than twice as a civilian now, than my friends who joined the marines and got out. The ones who stayed almost make as much as I do as an E-8. If you commit to the military, you WILL be paid decent, if you're going to do one contract and out, make sure you get broken for disability or get marketable skills.

I saw a sign that said marine corps and i pulled an obama and pronounced it marine corpse. The recruiter laughed and said we try to not let that happen. So I joined.

I had a 15k signing bonus amd cav scout contract on the table for the army and I said well Im going to go talk to the marines and my recruiters said do you want to join the army or be a real man and learn to kill in dope uniforms and join the corps. I said hell ya I do. So the sgt literally walked me over and said hes going to be a marine. 2 months later I was on MCRD Parris Island 3rd battalion lima company.
