50+ year old memories! I have a Mk1 Spitfire to build which was the first one I built as a young lad. I was born in Bromley, Kent, but now live about 1.5 miles from the original Hornby factory. What made me buy it is that it has the markings of a RAF Biggin Hill based fighter which is very close to Bromley, and where I have visited many times in the past. RAF Manston is near where I live now, and they have a fantastic Spitfire and Hurricane museum that I urge everyone to visit. RAF Hawkinge near Folkestone is also a magnificent venue.

Have you ever been to the Air Show on Sicily? It's really interesting: instead of aerobatics there's a lot of 'planes flying past slowly with flaps open so you can see all the mechanical bits'. People get different things out of aircraft. Also it's not "reality". Reality would be a photo of the model or the real plane.

Nice. The two 1/76 Guards band and colour party is great. I´m just about to start making a series on the HO scale figures starting from 1959 and doing one video for every year onward with every HO figure set released that year. Just missed an almost mint first set of guards in pink but I´m still on the hunt so I can start the series. These two sets will be a fun comparison to make. Then I will make videos on the nine sets of 1/32 scale that were realesed in brown boxes. It´s gonna be a fun next few months. Looking forward to the two sets :)

I was cheered by the Guards and they are in red too. I think the early “pink” sets may be a myth. They were always moulded in red but the early ones were not colour fast and could fade if kept in extreme conditions. Really looking forward to your videos, though. And I still have my first Airfix figures: Type 1 8th Army from 1970.

Loving the Lifeboats, especially as the Range has grown......I’ll be having both of these! 👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you for wheeling back out the HP Hampden....old but very do’able.....and I’ll be having that as well! 🤪 Re Lifeboats: It would be a massive thing if you could, as a new kit, introduce a Watson Class Lifeboat to the fleet. My reason for asking is this: In 1981, the Penlee Lifeboat “The Solomon Browne” (which was a Watson Class Lifeboat), went to the assistance of the MV Union Star. Despite the ferocity of the weather, the virtual beaching of the Union Star and knowing full well, that the situation was irreconcilable, the Coxswain Trevelyan Richards, made every attempt at rescuing all souls that were aboard the Union Star. He and his Crew almost succeeded but were cheated by mechanical failure (obstructed propellors). Without power and in hurricane force conditions, all lives were lost..... ....it would be a very honourable thing if, some 44 years later, we could remember the RNLI in general, through such a model in 2025? Thank you to all of you! ❤️
@narlokeill736

Here, here. That's a fantastic idea. I have a lot of respect for the RNLI. The Severn kit was a real challenge. I think the hull was very tricky to get right. Perhaps the new release has this updated a bit
@richardbaxter2057

@@narlokeill736 Thank you! Coming from a seaside town originally (Whitstable), so have I. The Crews, nationally, are absolutely the best, along side all of our Services, Armed and otherwise and generally a microcosm of our society as well. A Watson Class Boat, especially if paired with a Sea King Helicopter, would be even better. On the night, Rescue Eight Zero, From 820 Naval Air Squadron, flown by LtCDR Russell Smith, United States Navy, was prevented from rescuing the souls aboard the Union Star due to the excessive rise and fall of the ship. Rescue Eight Zero remained “on Station” until LrCDR Smith believed that the Penlee Boat was pulling away and ceasing its attempts at further rescue, so they weren’t privy to the actual destruction of the Solomon Browne. As far as stories of the truly heroic go, none in my humble opinion, surpass that of Trevelyan Richards and his Crew. The very best of us who were foiled at the very last. I was Thirteen at the time and it left a deep impression on me.

I don't expect Airfix have changed anything with the Severn-Class Lifeboat re-issue, unfortunately. I have just built one from my stash and it is an appalling kit. Warped hull, poor fit (gaping hole in the hull around the lateral propeller), lack of clarity in the instructions. One of the worst kits I have built in 40 years of modelling. The box says skill level 2 which is ridiculous, this kit is well beyond the ability of a novice to make the necessary corrections. Such a shame Airfix continually sit so low in the quality tables against Tamiya and the modern manufacturers. My son is an RNLI coxwain (Mudeford) so I built this kit for my grandson but it is a disappointment.

It's different from the US system in a few interesting ways. Offshore patrol and icebreaking is done by the Navy. Lights and navigation markers by the Lighthouse Board(s). UK Border Force has its own cutters for tax and crime etc. As a result life saving is done by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, who use small and tough little boats for their specialised rescue ops. The iconic color scheme is a mix of royal blue and bright 'international orange'

Most excellent- very gratifying to see Airfix doing well. I've been hooked since I was 9-10 and built my first Lancaster in 1980.

The only problem is I don’t have enough money or space (or time) to build all of these 😂

Glad to see that you’re reversing the ludicrous censorship of the wondrous cover art. Hilariously inaccurate scene near the beginning where they depict a happy couple together admiring a model. The wife looks absolutely thrilled and enchanted. That’s certainly not my experience…!

Really excited about the B-24! For some reason the 1:72 B-24 is rarer than hen's teeth which is strange for the most produced American aircraft ever. Even Short Stirlings are easier to purchase these days.

Looks like a new company have picked up the kitty hawk brand and molds. Probably the best chance of a 48 jaguar

Being a predominately Sailing ship modeller (plastic & wood) i havent bought anything from Airfix for a number of decades due to the fact that i have built all the Sailing ships and most of the warships you have produced. However i always tune in to your release updates in hope. That said the 2 Lifeboat kits caught my eye as its a charity i give to regularly and i like the detail on them which is a big must for me, so i have actually pre ordered these 2 kits now, but would still like the company to releases 1 new sailing ship as there is a hell of a lot of us modellers out there obviously depending on the ship choice but have no doubts that the company would make a profit on this after production costs, just dont forget about us period Navy guys n gals. Btw the 2 Lifeboats look Awesome 👌 👏

All I've really got out of this year's release is if you're a 1/72 scale modeler, you should be pretty giddy.. They have given the 1/72 range a lot of love.. Everyone else, Meh..

I'm rather underwhelmed. Maybe we've been spoilt last year...maybe they're keeping their crown jewelry back for surprise launches such as the 48 scale Sea King

Very nice new sets!!! I got some of the new tooling kits, mainly tanks, excellent!!! Nice to see P1127 and Belvedere again being produced. Had a lot of work with the P1127 making interior and two position canopy and landing gear, and also the famous but almost never used external weapons support. Nice little bird. As always, I pushed a little harder than required to include a single cannon pod. This will be removed sometime in the future, as no single weapon pod was ever fitted to Kestrels or Harriers, let alone the original P1127. The general idea is to turn the airplane in a Kestrel, as one of the options of the kit was fairly similar, exception being made to the horizontal stabilizers. These were slightly different in dihedral and shape. The dihedral I could correct, the shape I could not. I guess all miniature plane lovers may have some prefered planes. This little, wildly experimental jet was mine. The same way with my beloved Harriers and the fantastic Sea Harrier... peharps Airfix may try a Kestrel kit, 1/72, with some extra fittings, such as the engine or a pair or two of bombs, and, of course, some fitters and a pilot, with an old version Land Rover. This would preserve one of the most important steps in the development of VSTOL aircraft... Kind regards from the distant shores of Brazil!!!
