Alan Resnick ( / alanresnicks ) takes video compression-questions in lieu of his new IGTV video about Codecs. Go watch it here: • WHAT CODEC SHOULD I US...
I love this man so much, he's wholesome, yet unhinged

2:26 is inaccurate - H.265 is "better" in terms of compression compared to H.264, which means smaller file sizes for the same perceptual quality, or better quality for the same file size. The tradeoffs with H.265 is: - It takes longer to compress using it - There isn't the same level of hardware support for H.265 as there is for H.264, so not as many devices can have hardware accelerated decompression of video (which is much faster than decoding using software). This might result in choppy video playback for H.265, especially for older devices/high resolution video. I appreciate that Alan is joking around here, I just wanted to provide some info in case anyone might be interested.

Can we say that Resnick is the king of tech comedy? His works always involved technology in some way.
@monhi64

Hmm yeah they frequently do I never realized that but calling him king of tech comedy sounds so wrong because there’s so much more to it. Unless your joking I can’t tell.

The downright outpouring of knowledge and wealth being distributed is no where near as incalculable as someone using an offset h.264 codec with rectilinear polly carbonite diffusers for their backend nondenominators.

He neglects to take into account the sheer quantity of superhertz caused as a byproduct of cross-replication of the individual isomorphotropic frame localizations throughout the file. Have you ever been as far as decided to use the zipperXR+ codec to want to do look more like ProRes HQ?
@Lu_Cidtrip
4 жыл бұрын
@@krakenmahboy Sometimes I use zipperXR+ to mimic the incandescence rendered through h.264 but only when DPI issues become apparent. This is a common question you might be surprised doesn't often get asked. I've heard colleagues infer as to the amount of substraights and quasi-wafers each ASDAMAF can handle, but this is only ever brought up when dipnar is assumed and not readily apparent. I feel like ProResHQ will be the industry standard within the next couple years, this of course is only assumed as I do not qualify for a true ProRes liscence.

Correct answer to the 1st question: Codec is an abbreviation for compressor-decompressor (not “code-decode”). It does that: it compresses media to a smaller size for storage/transmission, then decompresses it as you play the media.
