Fun fact: This episode (both parts) was specifically and exclusively written by Susan Harris, the creator, because she suffered from CFS. Since, this specific story is practically autobiographical, she chose Dorothy's character to tell the story bc she identified most with that character...plus, she knew Bea Arthur would perform tf out of this storyline!

it was years when I found out, this 2 episodes are based on the show's creator: Susan Harris, who was diagnosed with C.F.S.

This episode is so relatable. It’s so frustrating when you feel like your doctor isn’t acknowledging how you feel. 😢

I have fibromyalgia and ME ( which is the updated name for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). It took decades of me complaining to doctors and even my parents starting when I was 15 and the symptoms first surfaced in such a noticeable way. My parents told me my problem was that I was lazy, my pain was "growing pains" and they dismissed it. The doctors all said the same thing: 'you're depressed." No one took me seriously until just 4 years. I am 51 now. It's been 4 years of trying to figure out how to treat it. I appreciate this show for addressing it. I felt the same way Dorothy did. I was made to feel like I was crazy, imagining it and was dismissed for so long. I am still somewhat angry because I was treated like I was a pathetic wimp. Now I'm learning how to manage it. It's so humiliating. I'm a 51 year old man who used to work 21 day stretches, 16-24 hour shifts, never took vacations, and who also went to school, served in my church, and took care of sick family members all at the same time. I was never ever lazy. I'm trying to finish my doctorate so I can teach because I can no longer do physical work. My spine ( from neck all the way down) is in terrible shape, I need multiple surgeries and all the years of being ignored and dismissed allowed a lot of damage to some organs and my spine from unchecked inflammation and damage from spike proteins. I feel 92 not 51. But ... I'm not a quitter. I will keep on keeping on but I can't help but wonder how much better would my life be now had I been taken seriously much sooner and started managing this earlier. Oh well, I can't change the past but I do thank God others are getting care sooner and maybe they won't go through what I and too many from my generation are facing.

True Dear Alexxa even though its a Comedy sitcom, we get attached to them like if it were our family and when its sad like this episode we get overwhelmed and gets us to reflect on those diseases that aren't easy to diagnose, love you ❤

I know EXACTLY what this feels like. Since I suffer from a rare chronical pain condition. Spent YEARS going from doctor to doctor and been through every med exam. Muy doctor finally told me that I'm either one of the few people in the world that has it (and is not documented) or I could be the only one and once I'm gone that is it.

This and the next one are great episodes. These type of episodes make the characters seem more real, because anyone can have health problems and it's good to see the support Dorothy gets from the others.

This is actually what I went through in 2020 I got sick and then started passing out. I did every test saw every doctor and kept being told it was my anxiety. I went to check myself into a mental hospital, they put me on with a psychiatrist who asked me “have you ever heard of Hyper POTS?”. It took a psychiatrist to get me diagnosed with a heart condition 😐

I don't have chronic illness like Dorothy does but I can relate a little. I had my gallbladder out in 2016 but before that I used to get terrible pain that would force me to regularly go to the ER. On one of those visits I (mistakenly) told the ER doctor which medicine usually worked on my pain (because they were going to give me just regular Tylenol). He told me there wasn't anything he could find wrong with me and sent me home. A couple of months later I had to look up some medical information in my file and found out that that doctor had written in my chart that I was drug seeking (which is wild because I almost never go to the doctor unless I absolutely HAVE to)

I’ve been waiting forever for you to react to season five! Lol. Its first three episodes (i.e. ‘Sick and Tired Pts. 1 & 2’ and ‘The Accurate Conception’) are my favourite episodes of the entire series, and they are prime examples of how the show could tackle serious subjects like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and artificial insemination in meaningful, relatable ways without sacrificing the humour. Improbably, these episodes boast some of the show’s most hilarious exchanges, including the outdoor BBQ scene in ‘Sick and Tired Pt. 1’, arguably Blache’s funniest scene ever in ‘Sick and Tired Pt. 2 (a sleep-deprived Blanche is a fearsome thing to behold!) and the ladies’ late night discussion about how they conceived their various children in ‘The Accurate Conception’ (Rose: “He’d put on this really long rubber glove...”). Just dynamite stuff all around. Extra points for sharing your experiences dealing with your heart condition. So glad to hear that’s all behind you. Keep up the great reactions! ❤

In my opinion, Season 5 is the golden season of the Golden Girls. You're gonna love it. And Part II of this episode is even more hilarious than this one--along with perhaps the best speech of the entire series. Enjoy!

@AlexxaReacts While each actress has amazing acting skills, for me Estelle Getty gets me every single time she makes Sophia cry. Her performance seems so real so authentic so heart wrenchingly true -I am lost! We will get more painful Sophia moments later. Keep tissues handy.
