Hello Rick , First of all i want to say that your video is very informative. I came across in KZitem searching for alfa romeo 159 2.4 jtdm driveshaft. I test drived an alfa 159 2.4 and during heavy acceleration i noticed a small vibration . What do you think it may be ? Is it the drive shaft ? Cheers Enerik

Enerik Kapllanaj vibration can be one of many possibilities. Vibration on acceleration or deceleration can be a sign of a worn CV joint, particularly the inner CV joints. Vibration at higher speeds could be anything from unbalanced wheels and tyre pressures to something like a sticking/binding brake calliper.

Hello!!! Before i ask i want to thank you for detailed explanation in your videos and quality content. I'm driving an AR 159 1.9 150 hp sport-wagon. I have a question about driveshaft. When you changing the driveshaft bearing that is inside of transmission do you need to remove whole transmission down or you can change that bearing while the transmission box is on the car? I'm asking that cuz this is my 1st time problem with that bearing and i don't want to pay transmission removal for nothing if that bearing can be changed while transmission box is on the car. If that is possible i can change that bearing and driveshaft by my self so i would need an answer to that as soon as you can. And second question is. I have small vibration on heavy accelerating somewhere between 1500-2200 rpm. Can that be that bad bearing of the driveshaft that makes that vibrating problem or something else is? So in any gear somewhere between 1500-2200 rpm that vibrating is coming. My wheels are straight. Timing belt and part's for services are fresh 5000km replaced and everything else is good on the car but i don't know where those vibration came from. Thank you!

Hi Robert. The short answer is yes, unfortunately the gearbox needs to come out. For the vibration……this could be one of many possible things and it is impossible for anyone to diagnose without inspecting the car. It could be engine related or it could be something completely elsewhere like the dual mass flywheel. If you are removing the gearbox then I would most certainly inspect the dual mass flywheel for excessive play or movement which can cause vibration. Rick

Hi Rick, wonder if you can help me. My power steering rack blew a seal this morning on my 98 V6 GTV and I think I need to change the rack. Do you think the rack could be removed without removing the subframe? I read it can be removed out the passenger side wheel arch? If I have to remove the subframe, can you tell me how you kept the engine held up, is it just on the top engine mounts? Thanks Steve, Sydney Aus

Hi Steve. The engine is held up by the 2 main engine mounts, one either side of the engine. With regards to removing the rack with the subframe in place; I wouldn’t like to say a definite yes as it’s not something I have done myself, however, I don’t see why it couldn’t be done. The bolts holding the rack to the subframe are easily accessible but be careful they don’t snap which is quite common. That said, if you are replacing your rack anyway then it really doesn’t matter!

@@quinten250 I experienced the same issue when refitting my new hubs. Personally I used an old socket turned down on a lathe however you can purchase a thin wall socket here: www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-6279-Hub-Nut-Socket/dp/B0183SVCWU/ref=asc_df_B0183SVCWU/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309799275746&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6950926138247596985&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046513&hvtargid=pla-565094514473&psc=1 Regards Rick

Rick, I have a 2013 guilietta that is shaking at 70mph + I have had it to a garage locally and they can't find anything wrong. I think it's drive shaft or something as I have rotated the wheels and it still does it. I bought the car in 2020 and it's done it since I got it. I live in county Durham are you close that you could take a look? My wallet is ready
