ok finally after 25 years of exposure to Western classical I acknowledge Beethoven is and was the greatest. Never heard Waldstein before to be honest and this made my choice final. Never mind the performer. I am unable to get over the rhapsody. God bless Beethoven's soul forever

Its funny cause I used to always swear Mozart was the best when I was in my teens (prob cause of Amadeus) now in my 30's there is no comparison to Beethoven he truely was the best.

Wow, what's all the "hate" about here. Alice, don't know who you are but I think it was beautiful and very passionate. I am half way through this piece and am listening to many you tube performances to get different perspectives I think you are lovely and the you did an awesome job! Will be listening to you again.

I really like Alice so much! With youtube videos sometimes its so hard to really hear the nuance. But I am alway curious to compare when possible Aimi to others. I found it interesting t listen to 4:40 through 5:15 here, to (utube vid) "AADGT Aimi plays the Waldstein 1st Movement" from Aimi Kobayashi. I find Aimi a real prodigy and this small part showcases why to my ears. looking forward to an adult Aimi.

That definetley is not the matching piece for her- even though she of course manages to play (almost) all notes in the right tempo and her fingers are fast enough. But it is not interesting, it's good conservatory-average. Outstanding are her virtuoso recordings like the Campanella or the Hungarian Rhapsodies by Liszt. These are amazing!!

若她可以再多給曲子自己發揮的空間, {有些小節被濃縮、壓抑了} 我會更加喜歡她這個演出^^

@IzumiJK i prefer music.. On music you can hear your soul (if you have one), while Olympic games are only made to entertain!

@Simonect92: Exactly my point. Soul is what I personally feel amiss in this performance. Somehow my impression is that she is trying to show off her acrobatic skill. I might be wrong, but it was a turn-down to me...

What a wonderful technique! And an enlightening presence! But there is a lack of magic here, a lack of musical ingenuity. A lack of the ability to turn my head and say 'wow I've never heard the Waldstein in that way.' I could listen to this performance and forget it, never moved like the way Barenboim plays it. A very average performance.

@TofuUnion I actually don't think it's like Liszt or Chopin. She did emphasize the virtuosic part of it, but I don't think it's too romantic
oh please... it is music... not the Olympic Games...

Good but far too fast. 25% slower and it would have been a masterpiece.

plus the olympic games have little to no contest - generally the more privileged countries win anyway. it's more of an advertising and coporate branding fest tbh
