There are so many really strong young players coming through: it feels like a new generation rolling through. The old guys won't give up without a fight, and for the next few years I think we can expect a FEAST, especially since the engines give us insight into what they are doing. A golden age, and I was expecting the superiority of engines to kill the game altogether. I love being so wrong.

Exciting for sure but remember that there is a sizable gap between Magnus and rest of field right now. Is Alireza so strong or is everyone else just weaker? Probably combination of both but time will tell. He still has to make it to Candidates, then play and win it to challenge Magnus. Unless he continues this incredible trajectory probably still too early. But he could be World Champion in 4-5 years which would be remarkable.

Why Firouzja is considered the strongest phenomenon in chess history ? 1-No body ranked number 4 in chess history at age of 18.FYI, Anand was not in the list of top 100 at age of 18 and was number 68 at age of 21!!!! 2-No world chess champion crossed 2700 at the age of 16 3-Firouzja started playing chess relatively later than other players , at the age of 8 4-Firouzja born in a country that does not have chess support or international trainers , in that aspect he resembles Capablanca and Fischer 5-The level of chess competition is maximal in Frouzja’s era including availability of resources and chess engines 6-Firouza’s score got frozen about 18 month because of Corona “ lucky Magnus to keep his title one year for free”
