From everything I have seen about the Vevor, it's a Brewzilla gen3 with a different controller, for almost half the price. Plus it has a bigger heat element, free hop spider and chiller. An excellent deal as far as I can see! Thanks for taking time to answer the questions.

Same system I just bought. I've done three brews so far. One with just extract and one with a porter with some grains. A combination of extracts and grains. I'm still learning about it. The only thing is is the wart chiller. I bought a small aquarium pump and an ice chest that I put water and ice into but apparently the pump is not enough volume to actually do the job it's supposed to do. I like your idea of hooking it up to a garden hose, but here in Texas during the summer, even the water that comes out of your spigot isn't really as cold as it is in other areas of the country. Thanks for the review.

So the unit does come with a lid to help with that. I haven’t had the need for it but I did have one instance where I had it up on the chair and under the painted ductwork (ceiling is painted black in basement). The paint bubbles up in spots so I do it on the floor now. I’m getting ready to do another one soon and I’ll probably go out to my pole barn to do it. Ladies in the house complain that it stinks it up but I think it just smells like breakfast.

Thanks for making the video. I am a few brews into my Vevor as well and am continuing to learn how to use it. How did you figure out the quantity of your mash water and strike water? I've found that it takes at least 2.5 gallons to hit the false bottom.

Hi thinking of buying the unit. Is the quality any good. Any chance getting a closer look at the grain basket? Does the kettle have etched markings to show the litters. Are you able to adjust the flow of the pump? How did the beer turn out?
@rankinprojects599

Sure I can take a picture of the basket just not sure how to post it. Yes the kettle has markings for both gallons and liters. Yes the pump has a ball valve where you can adjust the flow. My beer turned out great. I did the plump wheel kit which is the fat tire replica. Everyone seems to like it. Have my next batch, which I did a lengthy video on, of Bavarian Hefeweizen fermenting. Bottling in a couple days.

Interesting--I just heard of Vevor the other day with their vacuum sealers, and now I run into this, which looks an awful lot like a Brewzilla unit, though at a considerably lower cost. I've found it's much easier to mash in from a bucket than a bag--it's just easier to pour from a rigid container.

@@rankinprojects599 The bag works, but it's kind of awkward. Took me a few brews to decide to try the bucket, but it's a definite improvement. Only issue is if I need a big (> 25 lb) grain bill, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Can you sparge using the recirc. arm after raising the basket and adding a bit more water?
@rankinprojects599
11 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. Once the basket is raised up you have to have the arm rotated out of the way because you raise it higher than the arm allows. I guess you want to add more flexible hose to the end of the steel arm you could do it. You are trying to rinse all of the sugars from the starch so I wouldn’t want to recirculate back into the grains and would just rinse with fresh hot water.

I bought one last week and was able to brew last night, Black IPA. It did not come with great instructions but there are enough recipes and videos online to get it done. According to the specs on the Vevor website its 1800 watts. 2500 is probably gonna trip a breaker. Also its only $290 from Vevor, no tax and free shipping. Amazon was $325 plus tax. Just saying if you haven’t ordered. $35+ savings is about enough to buy the ingredients for the first batch depending on the beer youre making 😊
@OutdoorsMan1951

I find it a bit surprising that there is not more mention of the concern about wattage of these units and your home circuits. Home 120V circuits will mostly be either 15 amp or 20 amp breakers (with 25 amp also possible). You should routinely only load the circuit breakers about 80% of their overall amperage. That means you should only load a 15-amp circuit breaker up to 12-amps, and a 20-amp circuit breaker up to 16 amps. At 1800 watts, you're pulling 15 amps, so you better be making sure you are plugged in on a 20 amp breaker, and (even then) make certain to minimize anything else being used on that same circuit breaker at the same time. For anything higher than 1800 watts, you really better be looking at a 240V unit on a 240V circuit, unless you do have a circuit breaker at 25 amps.

@@OutdoorsMan1951 great info! I’m no electrician but know that would also coincide with minimum of 12ga wire in your walls to the panel correct? I mean I hope you don’t have 14ga going to an outlet but on older homes who knows.

According to the manual, 2500W is for European spec power at 220-240V. The US spec is 1800W at 120V. Guessing at a 2500 setting it’s really only operating at 1800 if voltage is 120.
