@@eddiemunster8634 It has absolutely nothing to do with race. The German race hasn't changed. It's the same race for 2000 years. But for most of German history, Germans were underdeveloped. So I have no idea why you would think white people are more intelligent. You can predict most of history through geographic differences and the different opportunities tech creates. For example Africa has 700 rivers. Europe has over 100 thousand. So it's a lot easier to feed people in Europe. Therefore you can have more and denser populations which have enormous advantages. And that's just one point. We could talk about climate, diseases, soil, mountains,... there are so many things that matter. Just look at the math Olympiads. You have people from all over the world. And the number of gold medals usually depends on how long a country has participated.
@devalapar7878

@@marioluigi9599 You are right. I treat the UK like an American vassal state. But there is a good reason for that. The anglo-saxon sphere profits tremendously from their shared culture and space. For example, Switzerland is doing great, because it can draw support, resources, labor and know-how from their successful neighbors. And almost everyone in Switzerland can speak more than one language like german, french, English, Italian, and a fourth national language almost nobody speaks. I admit I am not sure who has more per capita. Even if I can explain Switzerland's success, it is still impressive that a small country like that has so many Nobel prize winners.

If we have few physicists, we argue for a per physicist measurement. If some of the physicists born in our country win for another country, we argue for country of origin. Yeah, Count it by who has the most awards. Thats the only fair way to do it without maniuplating data unfairly. The US is #1 because it brings in and educates so many good people. Immigration is a huge reason why counting it by capita is unfair. If you want to allow for example, switzerland, but dissalow, for example, Faroe islands, You now have to draw a line between "What counts and what doesn't count" WITHOUT using pure logic. And then if you remove outliers, There are still a ton of small countries that technically arent outliers. So overall, there are multiple reasons why you can only count the winner by who has the most in general, not by capita.' Yeah i agree. The only way to make it work is to NOT MESS WITH THE NUMBERS, and just keep them how they are.

If you want to generate a comparison like this you need to choose your criteria more carefully. Or you select the country they were born or you select the country were they did their research. I counted 23 "Americans". I expect they have had the possibility to do their research in America but were born in other countries.
@Kedvespatikus

Actually both the country of birth and the country of the research has its part in the success. The country of birth usually gives the 'basic' education (sometimes up to university level and also may provide early research experience) that obviously has a lot to do with the later success of the Nobel prize winner. And the country of the research usually provides the resources and the possibility to conduct the work awarded by the prize.

USA / Europe = 99 / 121 And then you could still check where the American prizewinners originally came from (immigrants).
@epicow_1973

So overall, there are multiple reasons why you can only count the winner by who has the most in general, not by capita. If we have a small country, we argue for per capita measurement. If we have won more in recent years, we argue for a timeline representation. If we have few physicists, we argue for a per physicist measurement. If some of the physicists born in our country win for another country, we argue for country of origin. If physicists born in other countries win for our country, we argue for country of sponsorship. What we have all learned is to fudge the numbers to get our way.

@@Wuppie62 Its 50 states that are controlled by one, unified, central government. The states have different beliefs and cultures, but they still have the same languages, function under the same federal government, and (neighboring states at least) share the same industries. Europe is a lot different from that. I'd say the beliefs and cultures are all about as different as states, but european countries have different economies (germany relies on trade and pharmaceuticals, Norway usually relies on oil from russia etc.) The european countries have different languages, Different governments, and are generally more different from eachother. If we have a small country, we argue for per capita measurement. If we have won more in recent years, we argue for a timeline representation. @@epicow_1973 Dude, don't tell me stuff I already know for over 5 decades.. Your points are all in all quite irrelevant to my opinion. Just as there are different laws, taxes, economic differences, and cultures between the different American states, there's a European Union in Europe, with open borders between the member states, one European currency, one EU flag, one EU Parliament and Commission, EU laws and EU elections, etc. It's at this point in time an Union, not yet a Federation. Culturally and historically European nations are connected in many ways (both in positive as in negative ways), and the topographical maps of Europe have seen a zillion changes through the Ages, so there are more connections than some people think or know.
