Welcome to Almora! Not just the breathtaking views of Himalayas, Almora has lot many things to offer to its visitors. In this video, I have explored a few of the famous temples of Uttarakhand. The state is known as DEVBHOOMI and it is blessed to have few of the incredible temples of India.
1. Kasar Devi Temple - Every temple in Uttarakhand has a unique history and this temple is famous not just for its history and religious significance but scientific too. Dedicated to Goddess Kasar, the land surrounding this temple has some sort of electromagnetic force which will make you feel so peaceful here. There are only three places in the world that has this electromagnetic force due to cosmic rays. One if Peru in North America, second is in England and third is Kasar Devi in Almora. This temple is one of the three places on the planet Earth under the impact of magnetic fields responsible for capturing Van Allen Belts discovered by NASA. Many people believe that due to the presence of these fields, here you get an ultimate peaceful and relaxing experience.
2. Chittai Golu Devta Temple - This temple near Kausani in Almora has to be one of my personal favourite. Golu Devta is said to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva and is known for listening to our prayers. People come to this temple to write their wish in the letter and give it to the God here. When the wish is fulfilled, they come here again to give brass Bells to the God. It has a very interesting story and I totally recommend visiting this temple during your visit to Kausani or Almora.
3. Nanda Devi Temple - In the beautiful and calm surroundings of Kumaon region in Uttarakhand, lies a sacred temple of Nanda Devi, an incarnation of the Goddess Parvati. This temple is located in the heart of Almora city and it's easily accessible. Hindu pilgrims from all around the world and India religiously visit this temple as Nanda Devi is considered to be the "Destroyer of Evil" and the saviour of the denizens of Kumaon as well as other regions of Uttarakhand.
4. Katarmal Sun Temple - This temple also known as Barahditya temple was built by the Katyuri king Katarmalla in between 9th to 13th century. Located about 17 km from Almora city, this ancient piece of history lies in the picturesque Hills of Kumaon region in Uttarakhand. It is also considered as the highest Sun temple in North India and the second most important sun temple in India after Konark Sun Temple which is in Orissa. (Orissa). What awaits the visitors is the brilliantly made architectural wonder located at the height of 2,116 metres above sea level. Main deity of the well-designed temple is the old Sun God known as Burhadita or Vraddhaditya. The main temple is surrounded by 45 smaller temples.
Besides the temples, I also stopped at the famous Mithai Shop of ALmora called 'Khem Singh Baal Mithai' Shop. Tried the famous Chocolate, Baal Mithai, and Singhauri which are few of the famous traditional sweets of Uttarakhand.
I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as I enjoyed creating it :)
