The last 1 minute is still missing from this but part of that can be seen in the edited version CBC TV News aired on 25 April 2023, however, this extra 2,49 does give you a bit more clarity on what the film project is about, and hopes to accomplish.
DISCLAIMER - despite the close-sounding name, THIS film is NOT a wholesale endorsement of the late Guyanese Author Ivan Van Sertimas's book 'They Came Before Columbus', I agree with him ONLY on the factual statement made in his title, but having read his work it sounds more like Afrocentric racism - as it implies that 'all the Amerindian civilizations of the Americas were created by Africans not natives of the Americas, and that to me - is just as racist as the Europeans saying the Egyptian civilization was created by Europeans, not black Africans, and we cannot, on one hand, denounce that kind of 'denial/theft of other peoples history when it does to your race, but then you turn around and do the ae thing to another race, two wrongs do NOT make a right, as in both examples - the people pushing this kind of racist theory - are saying that 'the natives are too stupid to achieve such greatness on their own so my race was the one that had to civilize them'...sometimes people get so fanatical about their own racial pride that they cannot see how they have themselves become the racists they claim to be opposing.
NO, the only theory I support and promote - is that YES Black Africans did come 180 years BEFORE Columbus, but UNLIKE Columbus - they came to do genuine peaceful exploration and trade, not to conquer and destroy like the Europeans, Van Sertima assumes that with the same kinds of weapond (as the African explorers had no guns or cannons like the Europeans had, that 'Africans sailed up the Amazon and climbed the Andes then traveled through Central America conquering the native peoples, there are 2 reasons why this is more unprovable fantasy than provable reality, is this - #1 - The Europeans had a hard time to conquer the native American peoples they met even with superior weapons (which the Africans did NOT have), and #2 - the Europeans ONLY succeeded because the Old World diseases they brought with them - decimated 90% of the native American populations after Columbus arrived, and all the same Old World diseases the Europeans had in the northwestern part of the Old World that THEY came from, the Africans in the South West part of the Old World that THEY came from - also had, so IF they had truly reached in such numbers and hd so much widespread contact in the Americas as Ivan Van Sertima THINKS - why is there absolutely NO evidence of any of those Old World diseases devastating native American poplutions BEFORE Columbus?
YES, I know it is natural for humans (with our innate Egos) to WANT to believe that our ancestors 'were the greatest humans and did everything possible before anyone else', but if you are truly intelligent you need to have absolute PROOF of what you WANT to believe, you should not just cling to any and every unproven theory that makes you feel that your race is more special than all others, and IF such a thing finds fertile ground in your heart, you need to check yourself because you have deep-seated racist feelings in your own subconscious that you are not even recognizing or admitting to as yet.
I have enough evidence to PROVE at least one Malian ship reached Barbados, and at least one ship also reached Saint Vincent, as the one ship that returned to Mali after the first Malian fleet was sent across he ocean in 1311 - reported that bad weather hit the fleet and many were scattered or sunk, so a FEW made it (which I can prove by DNA evidence of 2 African skeletons found in the Caribbean that are 700 years old), and the Tainos Columbus met - told Columbus that black people came before him from the direction of the lesser Antilles - to conduct PEACEFUL trade with them.
So my NON-RACIST theory of intelligent, peaceful & civilized African explorers coming before Columbus - is MORE provable than Van Sertimas 'came and conquered & civilized' unprovable theory and conjecture. Furthermore, if YOU prefer the 'Africans conquered Native Americans' theory, what is wrong with YOU that you prefer to believe your ancestors acted like the same kinds of ignorant warmongering savages that the Iberian savages who came with Columbus behaved? Do you prefer to associate yourself with the behavior of such low-moral caliber people? Even the peaceful & intelligent Iberians condemned the actions of Columbus and his retinue of opportunist immoral brigands.
Why not join me in celebrating the fact that your African ancestors were totally DIFFERENT and BETTER human beings than those who came with Columbus, not just as corrupt and wicked as them on power-hungry ego-trips and bloodlust for personal riches at all costs.
